County Council member Wala Blegay said it’s her understanding that at least 10 bids were submitted by parties interested in taking over the 500-acre site in Bowie. About 400 acres of the land can be developed into what the county said will be another premier entertainment destination.

Blegay, Braveboy and state leaders will be meeting with Six Flags later this month to discuss the top bids they’re considering, the council member told WTOP. She believes a final decision will be made by the park early next year.

Guys I have tragic news.

I just saw pictures of the Dippin Dots booths being hauled away. If the Dippin Dots guy has left the property we can't trust any news anymore and all hope is lost.
Those were taken in September leaving hurricane harbor. The dude just didn't want to post the photos until the park was closed he said

Gotcha

I other news I am seriously being to doubt the trustworthiness of anything Wala Blegray. There are two errors in this post by her. Ist the Business Journal reported that it had been MARKETED for a possible data center which is a 100% accurate statement. Second she says SHE controls the zoning which as far as I can tell is controlled by a majority vote of the board and which she is just one voting member of.

A little more balanced look at the situation from WTOP

I have a feeling a 400 acre entertainment district means another casino. Sports stadiums or shopping districts are unlikely given location and demand, and another amusement park operator isn't happening. I hope it isn't a casino, but that would likely be the highest odds at this point.

They could also gear it towards sports tourism. There will always be a need for giant facilities to host basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, Swimming, martial arts, or any other kind of youth travel sports. The counties surrounding Richmond have been investing in that for the past decade, and it’s really paying off.

I wonder what's gonna happen to all the rides..
so there's an entire other thread dedicated to exploring this. however, consensus seems to be: joker's jinx and ride of steel will be parted out, ragin cajun and some flat rides will probably be moved to other parks, skywinder and wild one have their fates up in the air (though there is a considerable amount of demand for wild one to be saved), and everything else goes crushy crushy (rip batwing o7)

if I have to guess, wild one will be left standing with the development happening around it (maybe reopen it if the development is entetainment related) while skywinder will be moved

which I bet jolly ranger park in ocean city Maryland is having this face if skywinder is up for sale:
