RE: Rumor: Busch Parks to Be Sold Off?

Hmm, How about Comcast? They made Universal the best it's ever been. It wouldn't have to be a Universal park, but it would be like the relationship BGW has with Merlin, two different entertainment chains under the same owner.

Given all the events we have witnessed over the last month, it's a foregone conclusion that, along with SEAS announcing they will start paying quarterly dividends, that Blackstone is actively propping up the parks for sale. All of them. Not just Busch Gardens ones. NO filing w/the SEC has been made to spin off the BG parks from the rest of the SEAS company, so it appears SeaWorld parks are along for the ride as well.

Sorry, sources are confident that the Busch parks will be broken off from the rest of the SeaWorld Chain.

RE: Rumor: Busch Parks to Be Sold Off?

This may sound stupid, but are their sister waterparks going with them?!
This may be what the two sister theme parks need. Someone to put all their focus in just them. MAYBE it will get it's sparkle back.

RE: Rumor: Busch Parks to Be Sold Off?

If sources are confident that they will sold off, then it isn't a rumor anymore.

According to rumors it will be both Busch parks and their neighboring water parks, it all depends on who buys them.

It's not news until it happens, sadly.

What would this mean for the Sesame Street part of BGW?

With how crappy Blackstone has gotten i would almost welcome a sale, i just wish the entire chain would stay together. We use our platinum passes all the time for seaworld Orlando.

So do I. I will miss my Plat Pass Benefits. I know nothing about Sesame Place, but I imagine it would be removed or the IP would be licensed at least for a while, much like Cedar Fair licensed Nickelodeon until they could switch to Snoopy; but I honestly don't know.

This is exactly what I'm thinking. Separating the two groups of parks will increase the value of both and allow the parent company, even if it's the same owner (like Dodge spinning off Ram as it's own division) to better manage each company and it should improve the brand name value by not having them linked.

Blackstone has announced that they have a conference call set up for 18 July to go over their second quarter results. Maybe something will be said/included in this to give an indication as to what's going to happen. SEAS must be doing at least fairly well as they wouldn't announce that they are going to pay a dividend unless they had cash on hand to do so. This helps as a selling point.

I'd like to see AB repurchase the parks but that will never happen as InBev is company with a reputation for being profit hungry at all costs. That's why they wanted to sell the parks as fast as possible. Any company they've ever purchased that had assets unrelated to beverages were sold off. Then once they do that they start going after the fat in the company to increase their profit even more. Having InBev as an owner again would be suicide for the parks.

In my opinion, the only thing that would make up for the chains being separated, would be either the Busch family, or the Koch family (owners of Holiday World) buying the parks. I think they would have the right thing in mind as far as what to do with the parks.

If the Busch Family bought the park, then they would probably create more animal conservation programs, which would be good for getting the park in front of the people. If they know a park is giving to a good cause, they will most likely go there to help.

I will reiterate this point. NO FILING with the SEC has been made regarding a corporate subsidiary or separate incorporation. As of right now, any talk of BG parks being separated from SeaWorld ones is complete heresay.

RE: Rumor: Busch Parks to Be Sold Off?

If a company is to split off and form an entirely new company from those splitted entities, then they MUST file w/the SEC. Forming a subsidiary, no, but a filing must still be made to inform all shareholders of the change to the corporate structure.

All being told, the filing must be made PRIOR to the sale to allow the SEC time to review the sale & approve it. Doing it after the fact would reduce shareholder value & pretty much negate the need for common stock voting on such issues as approving the sale to begin with.

RE: Rumor: Busch Parks to Be Sold Off?

They wouldn't be forming an entirely new company Einstein. Derrrrr duh derr

RE: Rumor: Busch Parks to Be Sold Off?

So what does the list of possibilities look like if the Busch parks is up for sale?

  • Disney
  • Universal
  • Merlin
  • Cedar Fair
  • Six Flags
  • Herschend Family Entertainment
  • Busch Family
  • Koch Family (Holiday World)

Any other possibilities anyone can think of?
