I despise wet shoes too. Which is why I wear comfy sandals when I visit parks. That way I can cool off on all the water rides without having to worry about wet shoes.

Did BGW, KD, and Carowinds with sandals and didn't have any trouble with blisters or wet shoes or anything.

I have to say the wet clothing is probably far worse for women then men as there are potential medical issues women have to deal with. That said, I can not stand wet boxers.

Is it just me or is KD's rapids ride much better than RR?
It's not just you. WWC has more elements, more speed, is longer, and is just more fun. However, RR does have a shorter minimum height requirement, which is good for the little ones.

I still love this ride but UGH those water cannons! Also what's going on with the waterfalls at the end? I say waterfalls but they're really more like sprayers. Or fountains. I really REALLY like that they cover more area with water so you're more likely to get wet (I always seemed to be on the "wrong side" when the boat went under them) but they look unfinished. Just a bunch of white spray things jutting up over the wall.

In any case, oh my GOD it felt so good to get drenched this weekend. It was unbelievably hot and that water was so cold and refreshing.

I rode it twice myself, and thought the same thing. The waterfalls at the end have become sprayers, but it sure felt good! Being sprayed is better than no waterfall at all. It really did look cheesy though compared to the old waterfalls. It's my daughter's new favorite!

Has this problem with the waterfall become recent? Cause I rode it last year and everything was in order.

They had issues with waterfalls breaking last year from what I was told this was a xheaper fix.

While riding Appollo you can see a PCP pipe running along the top with holes in them.

Another thing about the PVC pipe is that people are not likely to notice them because they can turn on right as guests approach that area. Therefore, they are probably less likely to try to stand up and avoid them.

My kids, ages 6 and 8, loved the way the water sprayed with the new PVC pipes.  Last year we always seem to get off with one kid soaked and one kid dry.  The dry one was always unhappy.  There is almost no way to avoid getting soaked now.  While I like getting wet on the ride, I think it looks tacky with the PVC pipes sticking up and out like they do now.  At the same time, it is better than last year when they had nothing there for most of the year.

To be fair, I haven't ridden it in ages (mostly because I've stopped going during the summer) but I think part of the reason for people not getting nearly as wet on the ride is the good water cannons are on the inside of the pizza buffet, and there's no access to them from the outside without paying for terrible pizza. Unless somebody has stopped and asked if they could just get back to the water cannons in the back??

To be honest this was the single most fun thing I did last summer! I easily spent $50 on those water cannons. When I first spotted them I was trying to figure out how to get to them and ended up just slipping past the cashier the first time around. The second time I used them the buffet was closed, so I asked the person at the gift shop right across if I could go in and use them and they said sure, just let yourself in the gate.

In light of the recent announcement of the closure of a different ride with steep staffing requirements, high maintenance costs, inconsistent ridership numbers, and a limited operating calendar, I just want to say something about Roman Rapids:

Fuck this ride. Everything about it is bad. It is one of the worst rapids rides I've ever ridden and, somehow, the park keeps managing to make it even worse. How Roman Rapids outlived DarKastle, I'll never know.

That is all.

Roman Rapids is massively under-themed, has a terrible layout featuring massive straight lines and 30 minutes of sitting in the sun before returning to the load platform, and is located at a dead end behind a gift shop and a terrible restaurant.

It needs removing please.

While I agree some reasons why I think it managed to stick around:
- Little profit in selling the parts. Rapids rides are rapidly (pun intended) being pulled from parks. There's little reason for a park to buy the parts. Meanwhile the technology in the parts from DarKastle is still worth something.

- Cost of removal of the ride. With DarKastle, with the building staying, it's not that expansive to empty, as opposed to Roman Rapids, which would require taking out all the pipelines, cement barriers, pathways, and other items like that.

- Disturbance to Apollo. Taking out RR at this point may effect the footers of Apollo. This one is my biggest guess of the three.

Trust me, I would rather see RR go before DK, but I would think at looking at cost of keeping vs cost of selling off parts, the gain from DK is greater than the gain from RR.
