^ They could have kept a lot of things. But no. Enjoy your sluice down a barely-themed concrete trough. Maybe you'll get some water dumped on you at the end.

IDK, I think it has the same amount. I can see only one thing that was removed in those pictures, and a couple things have been added. Not that you can see half of them, because of the overgrown shrubbery.

As I said in the Darkastle thread, I just got back from Universal Orlando, and they have the Popeye white water ride, and I got soaked on that ride. Then I think of Roman Rapids and how dry I am every single time I get off of it.

To be fair, I haven't ridden it in ages (mostly because I've stopped going during the summer) but I think part of the reason for people not getting nearly as wet on the ride is the good water cannons are on the inside of the pizza buffet, and there's no access to them from the outside without paying for terrible pizza. Unless somebody has stopped and asked if they could just get back to the water cannons in the back??

I have no idea what's happening with the waterfalls either. But I've heard that some times they're not operating at what they could be. Which also leads to dryness.

I love Roman Rapids, but there are just days where you get on, and don't get wet at all. Which defeats the purpose of the ride like this.

And there are plenty of superior raft rides at other parks. I just wish that BG would kinda of pick Roman Rapids back up and put it where it should be. But of course when there are splotchy paint work on coasters, if there's new paint at all. Roman Rapids is probably far down on their list of things to worry about.

They moved the water cannons to just outside the gate for the pizza buffet.

But right now RR biggest problem is its starting to show some age. The waterfalls for years now have had numerous problems both mechanically and aesthetically.

I'll show it tomorrow but if you look at photos of the ride from years ago you'll see those waterfalls reached the whole boat. Now they hardly trickle hitting just one side of the boat.

There have been water cannons outside the gates for years. Before the gates were even put up. They're not the same as the ones all the way in the back though. The ones in the back are similar to the ones on Pompeii. The ones on the side don't nearly get the same effect.

Does anyone know if the waterfalls are working at all at the moment? I'm going to the park later this month and am hoping it'll be hot enough to ride RR, but only if the falls are working. Last year I think they were broken every single time I went and no one could really give a straight or consistent answer as to why.

[split] Roman Rapids

Last time I rode it (July) the waterfalls were not working...and we were stopped on the conveyer belt and baked in the sun.

I dont like water rides most of the time because your stuck feeling gross almost all day. And i WILL not be paying like 10 bucks to use the body dryers lol

If its 95 degrees outside with 100% humidity, you're gonna feel gross all day anyway so why not ride a water ride and cool down for a bit?

I never really understood the point of the dryers either. Why would you want to pay money to dry off only to be hot a few mins later when you could just let the sun dry you off and stay cool a little while longer.

The only problem I have with water rides is the lines are always long on hotbdays. Otherwise I'm OK with them.
