For a little perspective, Disney shuts down some attractions early, as well.

I think if there is relatively low ridership after 8pm and they need to save money (to pay for things like new coasters), it probably is a sound business decision.

I'm not really upset about rapids (even though I like to ride last in the day to avoid blisters from wet socks) as the restaurants or gift shops to some extent. Last visit we went over ro France late in the day(8 ish)for les frites. Closed. Lost out on 2 orders. Profit on those orders would have paid at least 1 of the 2 employees for the extra hour. Just stopped at fast food on the way back to the condo instead.

Profit on one order of fries would not have covered even a 1/4 of the costs associated with staying open an extra hour. In fact it's probably closer to 1/8 of what would make the shop break even. If the restaurant isn't going to make money then it makes sense to close it early. If I recall correctly on my last visit there was a sign that said they closed one hour before the park.

If 2 orders only cover 1/8th of the operating costs BGW needs to look into costs. There are only 2 employees working in the evening after the dinner rush I guess making around 10 dollars an hour. So 20 dollars labor. Only 1 fryer running so not using a lot of electricity.
They lost out on 2 orders which I assume would be about $5 profit per order. ( I can't imagine less than 50 percent profit on the fries if not more. ) so I alone would have covered at around 1/2 the labor costs for the hour. If they figure 80 dollars/hr for 2 employees to operate the store they have way too much overhead.

I still get some high enjoyment from it despite the absence of landscaping, despite what some of y'all say.

Water rides in a dry park are essential.

I have to agree especially in the summer in the south. Love my Carowinds visit but felt that the lack of a water ride was a glaring short spot in the park's lineup. Is Roman Rapids the best ride in the park no but it's honestly not as bad many people here are making it out to be just because it doesn't fit their personal likes.

Roman rapids could be fun... If it were torn out and rebuilt from scratch...

You know, with like a lift hill/drop and actual thrilling elements.

See: silver dollar city project 2020 for how to make a good rapids ride.

Just because it gets you wet doesn’t make it a good ride.
I never said it was like the best ride out there. I said it was good. Good for me means it accomplishes exactly what it was meant to do. The ride told me I'd get soaked, I got soaked. Therefore: Roman Rapids is a Good Ride.

Average rides are still fun. Not everything has to be super top notch, better than all the rest, to be enjoyable. Do I miss the old waterfalls? Yeah, but it didn't ruin my experience that they weren't there. We had a good ride. Had lots of spinning, got pretty damn soaked. And it wasn't a long wait either. Overall it was a good ride.

@Zachary you can move it to WCUSA over my dead body. Fight me. ):<
