Joe said:I would point out there is a difference between citing reasons behind the coaster's new name, and citing reasons for renaming the coaster in the first place. The park gave ACE and the coaster's opening year as reasons for choosing Racer 75 as the new name, but they gave no reason for why they saw the need to change Rebel Yell's name to begin with.
I'm not complaining or defending here- just stating my observations.
To clear up a bit here (I think this was in response to mine and a few others that said similar things): I’m not trying to imply that ACE is why they changed the name. If they want to be vague with what lead them to change the name, I’m fine with that. They don’t need to justify something like that IMO.
It’s saying ACE and the opening year is why they chose Racer75. Personally I feel like they wanted something non-controversial to be the name. But that point, if they wanted to, couldn’t they say the point of this was to run side by side as a reaching coaster and they are bringing that back, so they wanted the name to reflect that?
Personally with the whole rethemeing of that back corner, I’m interested in how far back it goes into the old candy apple grove. In my concept plan I put separation between the grove and the new back area. If they did that, and Racers entrance stays next to Americana, the name fits to make that area more of a carnival theme. But if not, you got this nice area at the end with all this orchard themeing and names, and then Racer75 as a sore thumb (IMO).
