They stop charging for parking if the crowds get too heavy and are backed down the highway. I believe the gates closean hour before park close so I don't think you'll be able to get in if you arrive late enough. You still may have to pay for parking even if you arrive late.
 
Parking stays open until the park is clear of guests in case anyone needs picked up, the turnstiles stay open until closing time.

As you can see in this photo their are no turnstiles where they are located today nor any tour buildings.

Wow, interesting find! I can't speak for when the turnstiles were moved, but I would imagine the congestion within the current fountain plaza was something awful with that configuration, so they moved it to where the lines wouldn't get so mangled.

I assume a few of those turnstiles were designated for exiting guests?

Well I guess I can answer my own question! :p As part of a press release for Ireland the entrance modifications were brought up.
Visitors will find a new way to enter the theme park in 2001. "We have constructed a larger entrance and toll plaza to accommodate a greater number of guests simultaneously entering the park," said Larry Giles, vice president of design and engineering at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. "We have grown from six lanes to ten; that will allow visitors to spend less time parking and more time playing," added Giles.

Road signs direct guests to the new gateway, located half a mile farther east on Route 60 than the previous entrance. Employees, tour buses and delivery trucks will continue to utilize the original entryway.

For future reference, if you get email from the park as a pass member they will send you an email reminding you what day it is or you can just log into BGWPass.com periodically and it will be posted there as well.
 
here is a neat new quirk. I can not, for the life of me, find any accurate way to find out if my pass is still good, and for how long. Terrific.
 
Since the park is opening at 9:30 during Spring Break, Does anyone know what time the parking lot/England open?

Hey all im looking to find out any information for HOS 15 the website hasn't really been updated. But i wanna know about the quick queues passes are they worth it? Im going the the middle of october.
