The same company that installed Flash: Vertical Velocity last year? Let's not pretend there's some mass migration away from IPs because they're IPs
My point was that there’s real precedent for this company to retheme coasters and it’s not just some thoosie pipe dream that won’t “bring in a single new customer.” Considering Shoreline Pier seems to be built according to the legacy Cedar Fair’s theming playbook, a Superman retheme seems perfectly plausible.
That makes criticizing speculation about what a retheme might entail dumb.
The main idea with retheming Superman is having every DC themed ride located in one area of the park. Superman sticks out like a sore thumb being the only DC themed ride not in that right hand area (minus Joker and HQ)
I also want to add that Flash Vertical Velocity if I recall was revealed before the merger was even announced and almost an entire year before the merger was completed.
Also, Flash being in movietown makes sense at least until a point (if there is a point) that the DC theming goes away entirely. All of the DC stuff should be in Movietown tbh.
EVERY SF park needs to do this.
Anyways for a Superman retheme you can do something shark themed. Great White, Hammerhead, anything like that. Blue-green supports, white track, grey trains.
There's also real precedent for this park to languish with its barely-themed low-effort attempts at IP attractions ? Just saying I don't think superman is gonna be a priority
For someone who brags about being “capable of nuance” you really seem to be missing the point here. It’s not about whether Superman will or won’t be rethemed. You disliked a post speculating about a retheme, calling it a “thoosie project” and implying there was no business rationale behind it. I noted that this company has done similar rethemes recently, suggesting that a Superman retheme isn’t beyond the realm of possibility.
Whether or not the park has “languished with its barely-themed low-effort attempts at IP attractions” in the past isn’t relevant to whether a Superman retheme is possible. There is precedent to suggest both that it might happen and that it might not happen, but the fact remains that there is precedent that it might happen. Hence my conclusion in my previous post: it is dumb to deride someone for thinking about what a retheme could be like, when it’s completely plausible that that retheme could happen.
No? Literally not the same company? Iirc that was a holdover SF purchase. I doubt Cedar Fair makes the same purchase if they take over sooner.
Still don’t understand being this antagonistic over an amusement park. I’m sure the faux intellectual contrarian schtick is still ripe on ThemeParkReview if you wanna go over there

Even if the purchase was pre-merger, Georgia Goldrusher got redone entirely. New SF clearly did not have that much of an issue prolonging the presence of licensed characters if nothing was done about Flash

We all had our edgy phases when we were younger, ND too will realize that in time. For anyone still arguing with him, the only winning move is not to play. I come here to see all the neat progress at a park I enjoy. The park has their plans, we are just along for the ride.
2 things here, which I will preface by saying I don’t think it’s crazy to think that Superman might not get rethemed, considering how many other parts of the park could use the attention first, and with how iconic Superman is to the GP
1. If you trust having consistent expectations or trusting lived experience, what about shoreline pier, which is a step above almost anything the park has done recently in terms of cohesion and effort, and just so happens to be the first part of the park developed by the new executive team? (In a similar way this executive team has developed other new lands recently)
now that I am thinking about it, I don’t think I’ve even seen you acknowledge shoreline pier’s aesthetics in any way, since it discredits your constant negativity.
2. Flash fit thematically within the section of the park it was located. What would you even have rethemed it to, it’s located in metropolis. I will concede that the theming was lackluster and I’m sad nothing was done inside the queue, like a flash statue or something similar.

We can disagree on how likely a retheme is to occur @northdetective, but there is ample evidence that the chain has been interested in similar projects. We have a similar project happening at Canada's Wonderland this year, in fact. Regardless of the exact percentage chance of such a change occuring, I think people find it more rewarding to discuss possible pitches and ideas rather than argue about the exact nuances of likelihood.
On that note, I just want to recenter this pitch in this discussion as I think it's pretty perfect.
I love the idea of a B&M flyer train consisting of an array of different kite designs and the boardwalk-style gift shop is a sick theme for a queue. Cheap, easy to implement, iconic environment, wins all around. Huge fan of this concept.

I love the infantilization. I too have had my edgy phases, I sure didn't use them to express ongoing disapproval of a particular amusement park at length. You're overestimating the value of the "entertainment" you accuse me of seeking in ... commenting on the park's plans, and most of the time saying nothing groundbreaking, but mildly skeptical. If I wanted to watch pearls get clutched I wouldn't think parkfans,net would be the place to seek that out. You people continually outdo yourselves
“Gone” is an interesting choice of word when they’ve just stripped the station of its theming, but there’s still an army of go karts and a whole racetrack there lol.

Superman should be rethemed to something with those advertisement planes that fly over the coast line by popular beaches.. or some type of fighter jet that does similar.
It’s a flying coaster after all. And it fits with the coast
Superman should be rethemed to a hang glider. Riders are already in the same/similar position as someone riding a hang glider.
In accordance with my demands to parallel the original vision of Disney's California Adventure with a New Jersey themed theme park in New Jersey I guess it could be Eastern Goldfinch themed. Idk we just don't have a great track record when it comes to aviation u know
I like this idea and I've thought about it before but stopped short of vocalizing it bc what do u even call those things? banner planes? I can't think of a catchy coaster title u could derive from the concept even tho I think it's good

Give it a sea themed nickname like blackfish or something
Story arc as follows: take to the sky’s as a flying advertisement who gets caught in a Storm and must make it back safely
