You already have the most adult-ride-dense section of the park with the current Shoreline Pier rides and the addition of Bakunawa next year in that area. The rest of the park can use some love too.
The biggest area of focus should be by Medusa. Remove the theater and put something there to draw crowds that direction

But they already stated shoreline was a focus in 2028 as well so that’s where I’m keeping my attention for guesstimating

Fully agreed. Northern Star Arena sticks out like a sore thumb more than ever with the countless improvements and facelifts this season, it needs to go even if the plot isn’t immediately used. It’s probably the single most hideous thing in the park at the moment.

At minimum, if they remove the gate and just put something in front of that area for now (stage, character photo area, etc) they do have the benefit of the hillside around it hiding the rest of it.

im still hoping some sort of vekoma tilt would go there. the park needs a new full circuit thrill coaster and i feel like that would be the perfect fit and vibe for the area to get people back there for the mine train and medusa.

The consensus seems to be Medusa is on borrowed time. Many conversations about this usually assume Medusa also goes along with the arena. But the park is refurbishing all the trains in the coming year, so I don't know if the park views Medusa as still part of the long-term plan or if they just want to get another 5-10 years out of it.

We won’t be getting a new thrill to take away from bakunawa right away. I’d say it’ll have a solo run for 2-3 years before we see a thrill addition

I can't see Superman going anywhere, a retheme maybe, but it would be stunning if they junked a 20 million dollar coaster, again.

I say the drop tower goes in where right stuff or slingshot is.

Or, just leave it alone and redevelop elsewhere in the park. Logflume/Medusa area needs some love, or people are going to walk that far into the park.

Hell they might do both since Mine Train got a painting this year, Log Flume was refurbished, maybe we'll see the arena demolished and a major attraction headline the area.

Agreed. Mike has said a family coaster is a big hole in the parks lineup so I'd expect to see that before another major thrill coaster.

27': Bakunawa/Boardwalk and other general improvments (i.e. the hints about fort independence we got about a refurb)
28': Large flat attraction (drop tower, screamin swing)
29': Large Family coaster similar to WG.
30': Entirely New or heavily upgraded/expanded kids area. (I feel this could be earlier than 30', the parks needs it bad.)
31' & Beyond: Big coaster addition. (Please please please alpen fury style)

I feel like the kids addition could go along with a large flat to make it sooner than 2030.

Hence why the park is ruined for the foreseeable future. What we have now is a mediocre, poorly maintained, and intentionally low-throughput thrill coaster lineup, a barely functioning and poorly maintained family coaster lineup, and no demonstrated interest in improving either. It makes so little sense to me that this park is the one they subject to their perverse shuttle fetish, but there's 0 chance Great Adventure gets something as good as Werewolf Gorge in my book, especially so soon after $50 million worth of slop. Family boomerang maybe

Was wondering when you would go back to being negative again

No demonstrated interest when the park President and head of PR have both mentioned the need for a better family coaster in the lineup is laughable, and they repainted Mine train this year

Park is ruined when it’ll probably in the best state it’s been in a decade when Bakunawa opens next year, just from the amount of TLC being applied everywhere.

I have to stop falling for this rage bait

I would like to read what a serious 5-year plan for the park would be from @northdetective.

2027: Bakunawa, but with a drop after the spiral down into a brake run with a slow, flat turn rentering the station from the boardwalk-side.

2028: Remove Flash's tower and connect the two ends to create a full circuit.

2029: To correct a wrong long since forgotten by most, rebuild The Chiller, but instead of spikes, each side connects back to the station for the other making it a dueling mobius loop coaster.

2030: Because slop spire transgressions can never be forgotten, both Lightning Loops sides return, but large turns are installed between the ends turning them into a single, continuous circuit coaster with a figure 8 design when viewed from above.

2031: Tram/train transport ride along the lake.

I'm speaking out of my ass but I wonder how much future investment is going to be dependent on how well Bakunawa does for the park in the eyes of corporate. Obviously they have up until 2028 (publicly) locked and loaded and the management have said what they are looking towards in the future, and I doubt its going to be a "tHe eNd Of gReaT AdvEntUre" like we aren't installing batwing at sfa or something silly like that. Its not like the park hasn't gone though worse times in its history. That's just absurd. That said, I get the vibe that with all the higher level corporate shake up in the last several years, they may see this as an opportunity to reexamine some of their parks and how well investment actually pays off there, even if they likely already have data from past years (I don't actually know this but I imagine they have something resembling pre-merger statistics). Whether people think Bakunawa was a good investment for the 5 year plan or not is one thing, but whether Bakunawa drives in the numbers they are wanting may potentially change the outlook longer term even if slightly. (though if they use their funds wisely and get good at convincing upper management they could probably improve the state of the park a la fiesta texas under seibert either way).

On another note, its kinda crazy how many low capacity coasters the park's installed in a row lol. Which means they might as well continue the trend and purchase Arie Force One /j

I would not misuse the word "tram" in this circumstance thank u very much. I don't see LRVs hauling the Prospertown Express. Also laughable that u think my train wouldn't be my first priority. U know better

2027: Train (temporary balloon loop while Pine Barrens gets work done)

2028: Wild One across the boardwalk, somewhat faithlessly reimagined by Gravity Group w/timberliners (I found the original layout to be underwhelming. sue me)

2029: Replace rapids w fun slidey new gen rapids ride that is significantly more compact and a family launch coaster in the Pine Barrens which will open with its new train station

2030: Destroy Movie Town. I hate it. Start doing something else to it

2031: Non-B&M giga around the lake

I wonder how much future investment is going to be dependent on how well Bakunawa does for the park in the eyes of corporate

I've been saying this since some of my first posts. Let me go dig up the language from the relevant earnings report/investor call/whatever it's called

edit:

here it is

I don't think Six Flags' "brand strength" in NJ is very strong right now, which isn't great paired with the fact that corporate was very clear the parks must respond to investment to not be considered disposable. I don't predict a strong positive response to replacing 10 closed rides with one shuttle coaster personally.

See to me it's not crazy. It's a consistent set of decisions to accomplish a specific goal

Future plans are significantly impacted by the response Baku generates in terms of gate proceeds, passes, and sales in the park season over season for the next few. I'm pretty confident in saying after a probably drop tower and a family ride of some kind, there won't be another thrill addition until after 2030 as they see what the numbers in the park look like over the coming couple of seasons. They'll keep up with the parkwide cosmetic improvements, too, so there'll be more "additions" to the park in that way that improve the overall experience. But they won't commit another $20-50 million for one project again until they see the last one along with all the other changes has increased profit and it won't just be good money after bad.

They need to figure out how to draw attention to areas and not make each area feel like a complete dead end.

It’s such a poorly designed layout. Guests have to walk to an area and the back track to get somewhere new. Most of the successful parks aren’t built like this. They provide passhtough and something to obtain and chase at each passing destination.

If I want to get to Medusa I should have 2-3 other things my brain either wants to do initially or sees and says yes I want to spend time here and do this as well

The park needs to figure that out because whenever I think of a place like Dollywood or cedar point or BG Williamsburg or Hershey I think of people traveling far and wide to come and spend a vacation weekend here.
I don’t think that for great adventure. It jsut seems to be missing the charm for me.

I would love to see a SS scream swing in former dare devil dive location, a drop tower in go carts section and a big arcade with mini bowling and lazer tag in the 4d theater building. That building has been unused (besides fright fest) for years and needs to host an attraction. It can be the “casino” and get a great facade matching the old school boardwalk area. Superman is pretty popular and should be rethemed. I think because most of these additions are flat rides, this can ideally be done in 2028. Park should not spend anymore time on the boardwalk after 28. The next major area that needs immediate attention is former golden kingdom. I think it critical for the park to get an another major coaster to keep momentum after Bakawawa. They should not wait a few years. 2029 should see a intimin multi launch coaster with 200 ft top hat to replace Kingda ka. It will be the true “spiritual successor” with a tiger theme. The layout can go in former KA spot maybe wrap around shoreline. Park really needs a high capacity coaster thrill coaster in KA spot.

I like your idea of adding another flat ride like a drop tower or S&S scream and swing because it would help to round out the boardwalk area as would another family attraction. I do like your enthusiasm for a new coaster (especially the Intimin you described) placed directly on Ka's plot. I think that addition will come, just not yet. Instead of focusing on the Golden kingdom, an area currently inaccessible to the public, I believe the park ought to focus its resources on areas of the park that are currently accessible to the public and in need of help. For instance there are many empty plots of land throughout the park, fading buildings, old beat up pathways, etc that need attention in the immediate future. Two areas of greatest concern in my opinion are junior thrill seekers and Frontier adventures. Beatifying these particular areas and the park as a whole as it currently stands takes precedence. Once the park is brought up to a higher caliber of visual and structural quality, with plot holes filled, focus can be shifted to expanding the park back into the Golden Kingdom. I see that happening 5-7 years from now. The park's next coaster and several new thematically appropriate rides could just as easily be placed in frontier adventures or Rolling Thunder's plot.

Wasn't there a 300-400ft drop tower and kids area featured in the same survey that had the flat package (which ended up being shoreline pier)? I think a family coaster was included too

As much of an eyesore as it can be, it’s also by far the single largest storage facility they have within the park itself. I’m all for it being removed or repurposed, but I really don’t see them giving up that kind of backstage space.
