How does this new ride in any way "erase one of the most significant architectural icons of the state"?
Ka is gone, is not coming back, and would have been gone whether or not this ride happened.
And I'm sorry, but "feel little need to defend my presence in public discourse"? Almost all you do here is lambast the project at every opportunity. If that is "little need," I'd hate to see what "large need" would be like.

How do you know it’s going to repeat the same mistakes? The ride works completely different compared to Ka. LSMs are going to be way cheaper to maintain than an outdated hydraulic launch system that required millions to keep alive each year.

Lol I don't know what to tell you. This is a perfectly defensible claim with the caveat that I didn't provide a time frame. Kingda Ka was the phallic foil to Zurab Tsereteli's notoriously vulvic To the Struggle Against World Terrorism in Bayonne (pictured) which broke ground in 2005 as well, and not much has happened architecturally in the state post 9/11. Architecture need not be good or tasteful to be significant or worth discussing, but being well-known amongst the general public (that is, people who are neither architecture nor roller coaster "enthusiasts") helps imo

They’ve started putting up supports for the base of the tower.
That shape of the added supports looks much different than I expected. Looks much wider and larger and was anticipating to look like all the no-limit creations with a narrow tall tower. Pretty interesting!
I wish the first pic was shifted a bit more to the left to give us a better idea of the shape. I'll swing by tomorrow afternoon or Friday if no one has an updated picture by then.

Wow! This is shaping up to be one of the most significant architectural icons in the state!
It's easier to build in the Spring than the Winter. If the opportunity is available, it's just all-around better to get this thing topped off ASAP.

You, uh, do know they need time to build a coaster, let alone one this large, right…? There’s an incredibly significant amount of work to still be done on the coaster, let alone landscaping, theming, the queue, the station, etc.
Personal half-baked conspiracy: might we see a late '26 soft opening? Perhaps around Fright Fest?
