Saying 99% of the general public hasn’t ridden an extreme spinner train is way more akin to saying 99% of the public hasn’t ridden in a Porsche 918 Spyder; they’re super rare, and even amongst the niche communities that know what they are they’re considered a worthwhile experience. Keep in mind, this is going to be the third extreme spinner in the world, and only the second in the US.

Edit because I realized there’s also currently fewer Extreme Spinners in the world than there are Arrow-Style 4D coasters. This is a big deal.

Then wouldn't magic mountain's thrill glider be a bigger deal by this logic

whether or not 80mph is an even remotely possible top launch speed given how high we can imagine the launch going up the tower
That's a tough one to guess on the fly, and even doing it in NL2 is not perfectly bulletproof physics (because the launch speeds & acceleration forces are manually entered), but I would imagine that the top speed will be higher than that.

Let's say the first launch is 70mph. The train will lose speed as it rises, so say the inverted launch engages at 50mph and gets the train back up to 70mph. I would guess by the time the train drops back to ground level, its probably doing 85-90mph when engages launch 3. In this scenario, I could see this final launch as being purely a speed-maintaining section rather than a proper acceleration section (partially because of how heavy those trains are, trying to launch those up an incline). Less overall top speed is needed cause the LSMs damn near go vertical. I'd bet its at least 90mph.

When/if SFMM decides to give it the press-treatment and YouTuber access that SFGAdv has been giving to Phantom Spire, it will definitely be a "bigger deal." Probably not as big of a deal, since it isn't super-tall, and the GP (and thoosies, sadly) eat up anything that is super-tall.

I was worried for a moment about it only having a top speed of 80 mph… that would be way lower then I anticipated which paring with a lower then expected height … I would’ve been northdective levels disappointed

But then I read this article

“including a rare inverted launch, where riders will go from about 60 to 80 mph while suspended upside down. But that won't even be the fastest speed. ”

Phew

Crisis avoided

A few other key items from this article:
  • One of the five tallest roller coasters in the world
  • Six different records attributed to it
  • Eldredge anticipates the entire track will be completed by August with three to four months of safety testing to follow

One of the five tallest roller coasters in the world
Hmm... if it was 5th tallest after Falcons Flight, TT2, Red Force, and Fury, but taller than Steel Dragon, that would put it between 318.2 and 325 feet, which doesn't seem right.

If they're including the SBNO Superman at Magic Mountain, it would be between Fury and Red Force, 325 to 367.3 feet, which makes a little more sense, but still isn't quite right for the FAA filing.

Strange.

Ok ok ok. I know. Wrong thread. Don’t hurt me @Zachary …. But man I won’t lie, this is such an amazing addition for fiesta Texas and I’ve been praying for something like this at GAdv for the longest time.

This will be the best addition of 2027 by a landslide

I really really hope after project purple they see the need for something like this at this park.

Ok back to project purple. Wooohoo new coaster

It looks like an incredible ride and I’m jealous. But, it is slightly related in that I really hope Project Purple is themed well. As we see with Shoreline, theming can really enhance the guest experience and perception of the park.

I think/feel that both parks got the right additions at the right time. GAdv needs the “iconic” ride and Shoreline Pier needs the “weenie” as Walt would say.

I would add that the outside competition almost necessitates GAdv to get something bold like this. And I’m not talking about other parks, rather the shore, Philadelphia, New York City, the Poconos, and the amount of recreation in the NEMetroplex area.

I whole heartedly agree that GADv is getting something it needs
I’m just saying, a multi launch family coaster of this scale would’ve brought it I believe more crowds then project purple. It just appeals to a larger market.

Now, This begs the question, would we rather

A multi launch family coaster to this scale
Such as werewolf gorge/ big bear mountain
Or
A velocicoaster/ alpenfurry Esq multi launch thrill coaster

My full on honest GAdv take is after Project Purple/Skyland/2027 - they need to take care of the coasters they do have already. DO some modernizing of Skull Mountain, Runaway is getting some love but give it more, get El Toro back up to peak standard, make Superman fit the shore theme, give Nitro an update, make sure DKC is looking and riding good. Between those things and BoF going in you should be able to buy yourself some time as a park.

Mostly because I think a twister woodie in SLP is much more important than a multilaunch family coaster because that needs more time, thought, and planning with the park layout than the woodie would need.

Hence why I think GAdv goers shouldn’t have coaster envy with WWG. PP/S/2027 is what this park needs (FWIW I’m team side eye on this an Ka supposed to run together) in that it needs that icon like that, regardless of how many people you think it might pull.

I think all of this will happen eventually but it’s going to take some time. My guess is 2028 we see the drop tower and superman retheme to finish the renovation of the boardwalk area. After that they’ll move onto other areas of the park, Frontier Adventures next if I had to guess (Medusa is in bad shape and the lone star theater plot is sitting there waiting for redevelopment). They’ll probably go around area by area and give all the rides the attention they need while also adding new attractions to flesh things out and bring in guests. This seems to be the legacy Cedar Fair, now Six Flags strategy.

Yes, I agree on that front. They just have so much to do, and I feel like if they can continue on a pattern of redoing an area with new ‘headliner’ in year one, revamp existing years 2&3 they will be doing some good things. I hope the Pine Barrons area is next up in its refurb.

As this all pertains to Project Purple though - I really think there was no where else to put something of this scale, and wanting to get this in there the timeline makes perfect sense. I’m sure everyone wants their hope park to have everything you want, but truth is that’s never going to happen. Getting this now and working to revamp and add down the road is the right path to take.

I would rather both. I'd take either. I'd prefer AlpenFury style.

Man i hope a family coaster gets plopped on Kas land. I would pay money to see those certain thoosies to lose their mind like Orion not breaking 300ft.
Got a feeling we’re still gonna see it regardless lol. If it’s not exactly a replica of Ka, people will bitch. You could put a falcons flight clone there and somehow someone will bitch about it lol.
