Correct me if i'm wrong, but I remember a lot of the initial sentiment towards the giga shuttle extreme spinner concept being fairly negative because it was such a gimmick. I don't think folks are blind to the absurdity of this thing, but it's what the park has been dealt, and may as well appreciate it for what it is rather than wish for everything else that could've been done instead. It's stupid, but at least a fun kind of stupid for me.

"that looks fun" and "why did they build this" can coexist, you can think one, both, or neither, go nuts.

well, you have trolled after people and even the post that started your rampage has mentioned Zachery & horseboy as those beans who been spilled

and mcmehler was a troll who gotten himself banned after attacking Busch gardens of not being as great as disney world
That's not true. I've been on this forum for years and this post is an example of the bullshit we are working with.

My take on Bakunawa is that it is a gimmick ride, but at least the gimmick sounds like it would be fun to ride. I never got the appeal of Ka and think Dragster is just as bad. In my take, both rides cheated their way to the "top" of the coaster wars because nobody ever had the guts to build a real Strata Coaster.

Bakunawa is not what I would want to have been built. I want a more traditional wooden coaster or a proper giga coaster. But seeing it come together has still been cool, especially because it feels like it has some interesting and original ways to experience the ride.

Orion being viewed kinda lukewarm
That’s what happens when you make a coaster that should’ve had a solid 90-120 seconds of track from drop to brakes end up having barely a minute of ride time in that span of track. Orion would likely be viewed better if it was a longer ride.

As for Bakunawa, I imagine as its shuttle that’s not going to be as big an issue as this is the first shuttle giga to be built.

That last sentence. I scroll these forms and watch people get way to emotionally invested in other's opinions of this ride. lol

I'm kind of in that middle ground. I love the slop nickname, and refer to it as Slopspire thanks to @northdetective, but at the same time, I don't "hate" the ride. It does look fun. I just think we could have benefited significantly more from many other options. Like a Premier AlpenFury style coaster... If I had the money I'd pay for it myself for the park to build it. lol

Yeah, I am a defender of this ride essentially on the grounds that when I got off TT2 the first time, my thought was verbatim "this is like the most evil flat ride ever built." It (and Ka I assume which I never rode) doesn't register like full fledged standard coasters to me which is fine! I don't even go here so I don't have a dog in this race.

I do think calling it slop is annoying, but if they don't theme it and leave a giant hole in the station then they are being lazy and they should be judged for that. Is it what the park needs? I don't know. They literally didn't need Flash and they stuck it there, like they did Siren's Curse at Cedar Point, probably the same exact circumstance, so they don't appear to take much care in forethought or planning stuff like this. The ride isn't slop, they just aren't good at working the PR of last-minute decision making.

Does a ride like this logically make sense really anywhere though? Lets just be glad it exists. If anywhere it deserves to be at Great adv, they have the space and they lost a main draw/wow factor and thyre in the process of rebuilding. No other park has any of those.

I'm waiting to see what the final result will look like before I decide how I feel about it. We really haven't had any real concept art for what the station, queue, or entrance will look like. I don't think the gap in the station is ideal, but I still think they can make it work. They've had a lot of time to really nail down the details, and that was one of the big things they talked about after the ride got delayed. So I do have some legitimate expectations for how the ride will be presented. I'm not expecting anything crazy, but a similar level of detail as Iron Menace is more than fair in my opinion.

For the record:
I’m talking about the opening over the track to “build anticipation” over an enclosed shipping container, or underwater cave, or something like that.

Wait I could totally see them use a shipping crate for the station bc its thematically consistent with the teasers so far and also consistent with how cedar fair may go abt theming (constantly using rustic theming and a lot of simular assets (ie "easter eggs") gives a good impression for the park/ride itself (aka decent atempt at theming and immersion in the queue line) while also being relatively inexpensive for regional park theming, for example)

They could do the ol' tin box queue house like they have at Flash and pass it off with some decals 🤣

When I heard Mike say the station will keep the open top, my very first thought was they were designing a cargo ship designed station with a loading bay in the middle and the roof panels are the bay doors opened. I figured they’d add some sun shades over the top for added shade once they realized the sun is probably going to be too much in July for guests and ride ops.

Another thing: six flags absolutely needed a gimmick type attraction to draw attraction world wide. As much as I’ve continually said they need a ride like thrill glider or werewolf gorge or big bear mountain or velocicoaster etc …. Those are everywhere now. That wont draw the same type of 👀👀 they are hoping for with Bak. So it makes sense why they went this route.

They also went this route without taking up literally any of the space previously occupied. Leaving massive land for more flat rides or family coaster in the pier and all of golden kingdom and Rolling Thunder plot.

The verdict is still out on Bak but I will say the few times I was in hurricane harbor this summer, in every queue I was in, guests were talking about it. Stating excitement, fear, commenting on its imposing status and the occasional curse word regarding the drop.

And that’s the water park

In my opinion if they built just Bak and the pier and didn’t add anything for another 5-8 years … this would be horrible.
But if they add something again in 2-3 years this ride will probably be an absolutely amazing addition. One I personally dk if I have the stomach to ride but I’ll happily watch others take on the challenge from the ground
