Do we think this ride will face a similar public standpoint as i305?
The ride looking too intimidating for most to want to ride?

I’ve been seeing this reaction on a lot of the social media posts. The “this is too scary now” pov
There's no reference for how an average person will react from spinning and going upside down at 100mph. If you start seeing severe physical reactions from riders, then this could quickly have an I305 type issue.

I'm hoping I'll be in the condition to ride it. The over the shoulder lap bars look like they may at least potentially accommodate a bigger rider, which raises my chances.
When i hit SDC in 2019 my dad was really heavy, around 350, he stands at 5' 9". He was barely unable to ride. His big issue with rides when he was heavy was he had the waist pouch of fat.

Similar question, we’re not expecting a max height limit on this thing, are we? Mack is pretty good at avoiding those, but Tormenta has one so who knows.

All is fine is they take the KD approach of asking and not measuring. That’s how I’m able to ride Rapterra and Pantherian lol

From what I understand, the "I305 type issue" is a myth—Pantherian remains among the most popular coasters in the park despite its incredibly remote location. Pantherian is known for not often seeing huge lines (leading to the perception of unpopularity) because it has very high-capacity trains, features easy to check restraints, is typically staffed by strong op crews, almost always runs both of its trains, and has a quick ride cycle. Intamin claims 1,500pph for Pantherian.

Bakunawa will never have an "I305 type issue" because it's hourly capacity is gonna be rough—with a theoretical less than half that of Pantherian's if SFGAdv's ride time is to be believed—and, to be clear, SFGAdv is a far more visited park than Kings Dominion. I'm very confident that audiences will keep Bakunawa very well fed throughout the day.

Is this... being sold anywhere? It drives me absolutely mad that these parks will stuff the gift shops with generative AI slop and stat shirts and then hold this sort of stuff hostage.

Another example:

This is beautiful. I want it on my wall. Sell it to me.

Edit: Nevermind, seeing in another photo it looks like a limited run of 300. What a shame.

I agree the Pantherian issue is more myth than reality. However myths can prevail even through the reality being very different.

If some riders get off Bakunawa really woozy and sick, and start messaging that around, the ride may get it's own unwanted reputation even if those are outliers.

First off.. the reveal was so fucking sick. So glad I was a part of this even if it meant I had to be up at 4am. Totally worth it. Anyways, this ride looks fucking nuts. We knew mostly what it was but when they said it would be floorless.. my jaw genuinely dropped lol. This ride is genuinely frightening and I think this might be the best ride in the park. Can’t wait to ride it next year. One last thing, I can confirm the main logo for the attraction is not ai.

The extreme spinners so far are unique in the fact that they lock and don’t come down any further as they use the motorized style of restraints that come down automatically. From what I can see on these trains though, I see none of the buttons that are used on the other extreme spinners. So I’m going to go out and say we would potentially see stuff like copperhead where the ride can staple mid ride.

Voltron has it too :)

So, just for comparison what we know.....

Kingda Ka
3,118' track length/ride experienced
1:22 ride duration (station start to station stop)
128 mph top speed
~466' tall (456' max ride height)
5 cars per train, 18 total riders per train (4 total trains but historically it ran 2 trains most of the time)

Bakunawa
1,581' track length (3,163' ride experienced)
1:03 ride duration (based on official pov; unsure if starting position is the launch or loading position; if launch then need to add time)
100 mph top speed
382' tall (375' max ride height)
5 cars per train, 20 total riders per train (2 total trains)

In theory, there's a possibility Baku runs more people per hour than Ka did if it isn't breaking down as often as Ka and they get their act together on dispatch times.
