Honestly I could care less if there's any real theming on the actual tower. To me that seems kinda like a waste of money with how barren the land the ride currently sits on is and how tall we're hoping this tower will end up being. I would much rather the entire budget for theming go into the station and queue to make that really immersive, then let the actual coaster speak for itself.

I don’t think they need to do anything too elaborate when it comes to on ride theming, but I think they should have a lighting package that plays into the lighthouse theme, if that is what this is. Lights that circle around the turn at the top would be really sick, or maybe even putting lights on the trains themselves. Anything to light up the top of the tower at night really.

ACE ridwithus podcast
05:20 - Boardwalk project scope has expanded, which is part of why the coaster hasn't been announced yet. Ryan notes that this teasing-style approach is unconventional for legacy CF. Since the scope has expanded, there is/was additional creative work required (logos/backstories/concepts/names/etc), which has led to delays in some items that were set aside to work on others. Since the boardwalk improvements will be realized first, they wanted to have those announcements/theming/etc ready.
09:25 - Rides (and the '27 coaster) will likely start construction between March/April with progress by Memorial Day weekend.
21:10 - New coaster to be announced in the next two to three months, and should be able to give Ka a subtle nod at that point.
29:55 - Ride would've been announced in August on a normal rollout timeline.

I think it would be cool if the tower has some sort of characteristic, even if abstract, design going with the top of the supports. I’ve always thought Cheetah Hunt is one of the best-looking coasters out there because of how artistic the little details make this element:

100% yes. Heck I wish more coasters did this. 1 it’s visually pleasing, 2 it’s a fun predrop, 3 it’s just….cool.

I hate to bring a pedantic correction but I'm just getting to listen to the podcast now and he says he wants to announce the boardwalk project and coaster within the next two to three weeks, ideally before the park opens (which is March 28th):

5:03: "My goal is to have an announcement about what those rides are and what we're doing with some of the theming in the boardwalk ready and available to our guests before we open."

7:20: "We haven't specifically announced what the rides are because I want to roll them all out together. I anticipate that'll happen in the next two or three weeks. Like I said, I would love to get that information out before we open."

edit: at 21:09 he does indeed say "...when we finally announce the new coaster, which should happen in the next two or three months..." so make what you will of it. I personally think (hope) he just misspoke and the coaster and all the boardwalk rides get announced at once within the next three weeks. Sorry for the correction @desardes

This person posted about a crane today? Does that mean it’s on site going up?

Unless that person is onsite with proof I'd assume no, they're just presuming based on the work dates.

That FAA study hasn't been approved yet, and the dates provided aren't a guarantee of work start.

The pace, timeliness, and quality of communication from SFGAdv has been really impressive over the last handful of weeks. Hope it continues. Can't point to a chain park that has been this proactive in communicating project progress information (especially pre-announcement) in a long, long time. The industry needs more of this.

If you're watching Six Flags Great Adventure, you know what would be really impressive? If you hosted an in-person, publicly- (or at least pass holder-) accessible announcement event for this coaster. I know Six Flags and Cedar Fair haven't done that sort of thing in a long while, but it really goes a long way to reinforcing the passion of the fan base in my opinion. It's something Busch Gardens Williamsburg has kept doing and I think the park, its reputation, and the community around the park are all better for it.

Oh, and if you sell specifically pre-opening-exclusive merch for the coaster throughout this season (a la Kings Dominion's exclusive pre-opening Twisted Timbers shirts), people will buy them in droves. Good way to financially justify an in-person announcement event to the powers that be. 😉 Oh, and also, John Reilly will be behind you—just ask him about the insane hype and turnout surrounding in-person announcement events he presented at while he was at Busch Gardens Williamsburg (such as the Verbolten announcement).

Happy to see an official blog post, lest we end up here:

Soapbox take: KD's social media presence and information dissemination does SO MUCH HARM to the public's view of the park:

I think it's frustrating when an official press release goes out to certain influencers at 4 am, but nothing is mentioned by an official facebook page, instagram, website or app until the day is mostly done, and even then, the facebook page only confirms one show, among the number of things that actually went out in the press release. I think it can be a positive thing to build back relationships with influencers (including this site, KD Fanatics, Clint Novak, etc) and recognize their value in the community. However, using them ONLY to disseminate information just seems lazy and disconnected from the general public. Even something as simple as the Carowinds post announcing that the event lineup will be released the next day can build anticipation and goes along way in building confidence (and interest) in official social media pages.
