Tomorrow is Six Flags Thursday, but if we don't get an announcement tm, it would seem strange to me to try to cram it in so close to, but not on, opening day, especially because of the ambiguity it might create as far as what's coming on opening day (nothing afaik) vs what's coming in 2026 (boardwalk project) vs what's coming in 2027 (coaster)

are you going to get it right or you post this as a way to troll people
I definitely get the sense you're a child so I'm not gonna attack you, but I didn't make a single claim regarding what will happen. If you consider yourself "trolled" by assigning authority to my words that I did not claim, that's on you.

I wouldn't mind the mix of haunted and not haunted themes, provided it all ties to the boardwalk theme.
So, in that sense, I'd be fine with a haunted lighthouse sitting next to a ride that's themed to non-spooky pelicans, or whatever.
well, having a scary themed ride in a middle of a boardwalk area still techianlly make sense for the boardwalk theme, look at these example of a scary themed ride being placed on the boardwalk:

Yep, definitely, haunted attractions are a staple of boardwalk amusement parks. I still like the idea of giving the haunted attraction a theme that ties more directly to a boardwalk (i.e. a haunted lighthouse), but yes, even somewhat random haunted attractions, like haunted house dark rides, are appropriate.

Actually, it would be kind of cool if Great Adventure added a unique dark ride to the area. Maybe something like Justice League, but with spooky theming. Something that pays homage to the classic boardwalk dark rides, but more elaborate. Better yet, make it an indoor haunted boat ride with modern effects and great theming. I know it wouldn't bring in huge crowds, but it would add a nice bit of variety and would offer some fun on rainy days.

Anyway, sorry, I digress... back to the new coaster...

I'm sorry I must have missed something. What is Six Flags Thursday? Is it like Mar10 day or May the Fourth?
For many years, Legacy Six Flags would make a big announcement around this time of year, on a Thursday, laying out the additions coming to every park in the chain.

For some reason people were suggesting that it might occur this Thursday, despite the fact that it didn't occur last year, or the year before that, and that the newly-combined SFEC has made no indication of continuing the practice.

I'm not aware of the longer history, but SFEC has been announcing things on Thursdays. Tormenta was announced on a Thursday, Enchanted Parks was announced last Thursday, this Thursday we got the ever-important endorsement from Travis Kelce (whose home parks were both announced to be sold off last week). Also, it's been about two weeks since this:

Generating a transcript rn... notably Eldredge said the inteviewer was about "two weeks too fast" [soon] at 30:55 regarding the announcement of new coaster's theme, and that the 2026 project will be announced along with it

so that interview made me think the announcement of both the coaster and the boardwalk was imminent, but it's looking like the announcement he was referring to might've been the vaguepost about the Boardwalk

Something I was wondering about (assuming Phantom Spire is in fact a haunted lighthouse theme), is whether we might see some sort of theming structure at the top of the tower to sell the idea of the tower as a lighthouse. I'm assuming the supports will be open air due to cost, but I think it would be cool if there was some type of room that the train passed through briefly before wrapping around the outside with an outer banked turn. This would give the opportunity for some sort of spooky thematic element (similar idea to the yeti on Expedition Everest but likely much simpler in execution) and give a bit of a head chopper effect, while having the dual benefit of appearing like a lighthouses lantern room from the outside. Perhaps this is too much to ask for from Six Flags but I do think it would be strange if the ride is ostensibly lighthouse themed but appears nothing like an actual lighthouse.

I was initially pretty skeptical of the haunted lighthouse idea but I will admit that it has been growing on me a lot. There is definitely a potential to do something totally unique and creative and I really hope they take the opportunity to do it right. Having a slow train movement/theming at the top of the tower could take this ride from being just alright to something really special in my opinion.

If this is indeed the case (which I do believe this will happen in some capacity), I wonder just how much the actual tower structure itself will resemble a lighthouse. Building something that tall is already mega expensive, so incorporating an actual thematic structural design would be so wild.

I imagine they'll take the route Cedar Point did with Siren's Curse (calling the tilt tower an abandoned shipping crane tower), and call the structure the abandoned Phantom Shore Lighthouse or something like that.

Continuing with the assumption that it will be themed as a lighthouse, the station should be themed to look like rocky caves in the water, with sounds of wind and water splashing up against it. Then the train could be themed to look like a sea serpent that shoots out of the rocky caves and attacks the light house.
