I was explicitly told in January that they'd been considering something big and Vekoma about two years ago. I won't mention what specifically or even if this is still the case but that claim has been thrown around a bit.

A lot of people have been mentioning Vekoma it seems... INTERESTING...

Hmm... I wonder what handsome, suave, clever, resourceful gentleman could have sent that patent over to Theme Park Wizard... 😎

I am not saying this is what Magic Mountain is getting, but some pieces have definitely been comin' together rumor-wise over here. If we finally get permits and they look to be for an invert, this is probably where my money will be.

Is he suggesting we could see our first Vekoma Next Gen Flyer Stateside?

Both an invert and a flyer would be redundant in this park, so I hope it's neither (as much as I love Vekoma).

I'd argue a launched inverted coaster would definitely be something that could differentiate it from Tatsu and Batman.

They have an invert right now, but how long are we expecting Batman to last at this park?

I'd more wonder how long Ninja has left in it. Honestly this kind of makes me wonder if we are looking at a potential successor/spiritual to that of Ninja with what SFMM could do.

Ringing in--hopefully we get the announcement this week! With other SF parks getting announcements; it'd be odd if they held off on SFMM's again.

Very interesting that this wasn't announced in time for the chainwide press release today. That said, the chainwide release claimed the newly merged Six Flags chain would be adding 7 coasters and, depending on how you count 'em, the announcement only included five or six.

We know all of these should be counted in the 7 as they're all specifically named coasters in the press release:
  1. AlpenFury
  2. Quantum Accelerator
  3. Racing Railway
  4. Rapterra
  5. Wrath of Rakshasa
The press release identifies the KI launched water slide, RiverRacers, as a "dual-racing water coaster." It's unclear whether or not this would be counted amongst the 7. If they wanted to be really cringe, they could even count it twice.

Also not announced in time for the press release is Six Flags Mexico's tilt coaster. Track is already onsite there, it is well into planning approval, and the park has been teasing it. Seems like that has to be one of the 7 for 2025?

Meanwhile, two brand new, previously 2024 coasters, Flash and Georgia Surfer, have been delayed until 2025. Seems like those can't be included in the 7 though, right? Only way they could be is if they're not counting RiverRacers or Mexico's tilt.

Further complicating things, what about MonteZOOMa at Knott's? Is that still 2025? And, if it were, would that be counted as a new coaster? 🤷‍♂️

So the question, finally, is where does that leave Magic Mountain? This project, from a site work and public approval standpoint, appears to be running ahead of some already-announced additions like Rakshasa. That said, it did seem to stall out for a long while there and teasing seems to have remained stalled since. Maybe it has been delayed to 2026 now...? Especially if these novel, prototype, suspended motorbike coaster rumors are true, it probably doesn't make sense to rush it. That said, it does seem like they want to start work on it soon so...?

Very interesting puzzle.

Going to throw out a few possibilities here:

Assuming this is the case, I wonder if they pushed the project to 2026 for two reasons: First, to compete with Universal’s Fast and Furious Coaster down the road, and second, as Zachary mentioned, to give Magic Mountain ample time to construct and test this innovative prototype coaster.

With the recent merger, Six Flags Entertainment Corporation might want all their parks to start projects earlier to avoid a year or two delays. For instance, Rapterra and Alpenfury took a lot of time to prepare to meet their target years. In contrast, construction on Flash and Georgia Surfer started much later, resulting in their opening years being pushed.

With that being said, we know Six Flags Mexico's coaster project is slated for next year. Unless that changes, it has to be one of the 7 new coaster projects. Counting Six Flags Mexico's coaster, that makes 6, alongside AlpenFury, Quantum Accelerator, Racing Railway, Rapterra, and Wrath of Rakshasa. If they were counting Flash and Georgia Surfer, considering their delays, it doesn’t align with the Six Flags Mexico project being mixed in there.

Right now, I'm really not sure were THIS stands, so we'll have to wait and see. 100% puzzling at the moment.
