Every time an overhead picture of shoreline is posted, am I the only one who thinks how bad the placement is?View attachment 44425
Google Earth imagery has been updated to 7/21/2026.
The Shoreline Pier was a last minute addition, so it wouldn't surprise me if they just stuck it wherever they could.Every time an overhead picture of shoreline is posted, am I the only one who thinks how bad the placement is?
Between Superman, the parking lot, shoreline and now Bak… the amount of dead space is vast.
Unless they have some grand plan to utilize the space, it seems sorta silly
As a lighthouse enthusiast I am offended by this.Just northdetective things

It has a spinning light, too.the lighthouse has to be new because I haven't praised it yet. they didn't even get lazy and just throw a cape hatteras cutout up!!!! we got an actual 3 dimensional lil barney!!!! big win!!!!!!
Half-serious, half-joking, least they could do with a Jersey shore section is to have the most iconic lighthouse in the state, and one of the most iconic in the country, represented somehow. It has been on the state license plate. And GAdv is in Ocean County so you'd figure LBI might, maybe, possibly get worked in? SP is a little weird how it's only shout-outs are central and north Jersey shore. There's nothing on that board of shore points south of Seaside.....you know, where most folks go down the Jersey shore. I mean, when most people think of Jersey shore piers, they think of Atlantic City first, then maybe a tossup between Wildwood and Seaside, although Wildwood''s are bigger and have more thrill rides. I guess SP is revealing in where most parkgoers come from (NYC region) and/or the demo the park wanted to target.Just northdetective things

The cynic in me says that they don’t want to too heavily advertise their local competitors in the amusement/recreation area… I also noticed that they’re pretty particular with what towns get referenced. And GAdv is in Ocean County so you'd figure LBI might, maybe, possibly get worked in? Nah, Cape May lighthouse is very cool, too. My wife and I go there once a year on our anniversary. And we have a cottage in Barnegat Light so I'm definitely biased.I'm going to be the odd one out on team Cape May Lighthouse. But I also spend a few days every year in Cape May and climb the lighthouse yearly, so I'm definitely biased. I also think based on reading I'm one of the few active people in South Jersey, though.
I do hope the theming continues to come in.
Also, I was thinking about the empty area last night. If they build a wraparound coaster like a Woodie or modified AF1, they could place the entrance right here by the shark:

It's currently a staff/equipment exit, but there's multiple others, and I'm sure they'll get a few on the Bakunawa side too.
Funny, similar story. When my partner (a Great Escape local, fun fact) first moved down here with me, our first true in person date was at the Cape May Lighthouse.Nah, Cape May lighthouse is very cool, too. I grew up in NY… almost everyone I knew would go to Seaside. Furthest point they’d touch would usually be LBI.Half-serious, half-joking, least they could do with a Jersey shore section is to have the most iconic lighthouse in the state, and one of the most iconic in the country, represented somehow. Yep. NY/CNJ/NNJ crowds pretty much go from Sandy Hook to Seaside. Parkway makes it doable in under two hours. Further south starts to be a drag. Even from LBI (on-island) to get to AC (on-island) takes over an hour. There are a lot of NYers on LBI, but it's people who own homes or rent oceanside. Otherwise, LBI down to Cape May mostly SEPA and SNJ, with some CNJ mixed in.I grew up in NY… almost everyone I knew would go to Seaside. Furthest point they’d touch would usually be LBI.
Of course some from that area go to wildwood but it’s a significantly further drive. The beach is 4x as wide so viewed as more of a headache.
Wildwood is usually Philadelphia and south Jersey residents.
Either way doesn’t matter. The Shoreline Pier is stunning and I cannot wait to see them continue to make it one of the best themed areas in the park. It needs another flat or two but it’s an amazing addition. Gives me hope for further theming in other areas
Furthermore: these night pictures make me all the more borderline demanding a sick light package on Bak. I will 100% be disappointed and let down and frustrated if they half ass a light package
Atlantic City: am I a joke to youWildwood is usually Philadelphia and south Jersey residents.
