Was - but it's still a licensed theme. One that could lower costs if they don't renew whatever contract is in place assuming it comes up for renewal often enough.
That's one of the things I've been curious about with this ride. Obviously none of us know the details on how the licensing agreement was structured. Is it a recurring commitment, if so what's the length of the commitment? Or was the use of the name rolled into the purchase, with something in there that anything new for the ride (past a certain period of time) would require a new agreement? Is that why we don't see any new merch? Theresa Earnhardt is notoriously brutal when it comes to licensing anything for Dale Sr.

For me - the theming/name of the ride could not match the ride any better than it does right now (not saying it shouldn't be updated or cleaned up). Dale Earnhardt Sr. is one of the most notorious, intense, bad ass drivers of all time, and known across the globe for those characteristics. Is Intimidator 305, not one of the most intense, notorious, bad ass roller coasters known in the world?

I'm not sure the merger effects anything regarding the Volcano replacement/development of Jungle X. If there was a B&M launched wing coaster planned to be installed at KD in 2025, wouldn't the manufacturing of such a ride already be well under-way/completed? Typically, pieces of a new coaster begin arriving at a park the summer before the ride opens, which would be summer 2024. I would think a ride of this magnitude would be almost completely manufactured at this point.

It's possible the theme of the new coaster and the retheme of other rides could incorporate some new IP, but I think Jungle X will continue to be developed as planned. I know the new company is entitled "Six Flags," but Zimmerman is CEO and corporate is in Charlotte/Sandusky; sounds to me like many of the Cedar Fair initiatives, as well as their overall company culture, will mostly prevail.

I was reading an online article from the Orange County Register about the potential merger impact on Knotts Berry Farm. Their CF sources stated that none of the CF parks were to be prefaced with "Six Flags" in their name. They were keeping their original names. They did say you could see "Six Flags" on paper cups, souvenirs, merchandise bags, etc. in the parks.

I was just thinking I need to get my hard card for my Prestige pass so I can keep it with my Volcano gold and now defunct platinum as a collection.
Yea, the article stated you would probably see the Six Flags name and logo on whatever Season Passes / Memberships that are offered for 2025.

Yeah I personally strongly doubt Kyle is anywhere near the top level discussions and agree. He’s not involved in any planning or park engineering. He tells us stuff when Kings Dominion authorizes him to do so. When he posted that blog post “10 reasons to own a 2024 pass” the day of the pass sale and 0 of those were “new attraction” and he doubled down on that in our conversation is largely all I need to call that a confirmation that there is not new ride hardware being installed for 2024. At the point of the blog post he was authorized to say nothing was coming in 2024 for new rides. He doesn’t have any authority regarding park engineering or capex allocation.

The “Dorney” part honestly, I immediately took with a salt shaker. Cedar Fair just decided 2024 was the year for Dorneys next coaster at some point. Certainly not “oh we can’t build a ride at KD too it would hurt attendance for Dorney.” I would honestly make the argument most people that go to Kings Dominion probably aren’t even aware Dorney Park exists. I mean a lot of people I know don’t even know SFA is a thing.
You are absolutely correct. I know nothing about Dorney Park. And, I didn’t know SFA existed until about 10 years ago. I visited soon after I found out about it. I have never been again. I’ve had Kings Dominion season passes since 1985.

Are people under the impression that there are going to be NO changes to the park for 2024? Comments on I305’s page seem doubtful of even a repaint this off-season. Repainting Racer, finishing Grizzly’s retrack, and reopening Delirium seem kind of small if that’s what ends up happening. They could really use a new flat ride I think.

Grizzly is done there is no more work planned for it at this time. I could see repaint and hopefully Delirum will be up and running but I don't expect any major changes at this point.

I remember there was word of the PR person remarking about Backlot not fitting in with Jungle X. Is it possible he was hinting at something, or could he have just been giving his personal opinion? I wonder if there's any inside info at this time about whether updates will come to Jungle X next year.

This is just crazy because 2024 is the 50th anniversary of when the park had previews in 1974, and they even celebrated that in 2014 during the 40th celebration. I was hoping they would do another two year celebration for the 50th especially since the park will be half a century old. Yet unlike the 40th celebration, which was announced in September 2013, we have not heard a single thing from the park about anything for next year, even at this point. Not even a blog post. I wonder if either the 40th celebration wasn't really as effective with guests as they had hoped or if they are saving all the money for project 2025.

I may be in the minority but considering Backlot and FoF are the best themed rides by a mile, they shouldn’t get a retheme. That whole stretch from Backlot to Intimidator feels thematically separate enough from the Jungle-X area that it doesn’t really detract from it.
