Are we sure this is going to be a B&M family invert? The layout traced on the plans looks significantly longer than Phoenix Rising to me. In the image below, the footers holding the supports for the top of the lift are spread far apart. I can't see that configuration in the blueprints.

Could it really have two lift hills, like what @AIR has depicted? That's never been done before on a B&M...I think. I wouldn't be against it at all, considering BBW also had two lifts.

Here's my layout analysis based on what footers I saw. Blue being lifts, yellow being brakes, red being regular track.

I am a little confused about the first half of the ride before the boneyard as there's very little foundations and the pattern seemed to travel over the Drachen Fire maintenance building. Super weird.
DANG! Y'all I think I figured it out what this coaster is...

The biggest nail in the coffin in any way to future FHP expansion is cutting off paths to the boneyard and the terraforming that will happen to FHP. Very little way to grow back there. At least DS and Mardid, and seemingly RMC would have kept it open for more. Part of DFs issue (outside the ride itself) was the lack of additional draw.

It’s gonna have the same odd feeling Batwing at SFA gives me. Long walk for a 1-and-done coaster.

Interesting, I never noticed Phoenix Rising had a drop I guess split into two. It seems like, to me, that is happening on this one too based on how it looks to go over Drachen Fire maint.

Just a thought too, this coaster could also have the same name: Phoenix or Phoenix Rising and still fit the theme of being born out of the ashes of Drachen Fire and all.

As with Pantheon, me thinks this will hamper multiple departments if this now blocks access to that entire area during the work day. I feel for them.

It shouldn't interfere too badly. The way it's laid out seems there's still access to the backside of Verbolten and the Drachen Fire maintenance building as well as the boneyard.

Article today.

Due to last-minute refinements to our understanding of the coaster, the article will likely go live without the final photos or video of @CoasterMac's precreation. Those elements will be edited in as soon as they're finished. @intim305's earlier mock-up will be included from the start though—it just doesn't feature the absolute latest analysis. Lots of context will be included in the post to explain it all further.

Just to be clear, you are confirming that this is indeed a Landscaping Project that is a direct response to Backlot Stunt Coaster at KD called "Backlot Drachen Stunt Coaster (AKA Drachen Stunt)" - correct? 🤣

I don’t know if I’m less cynical about this than most people but I think this has the possibility to work VERY well with this area, imagine once the trees and landscaping grows back in, darting through the wilderness on a chase, imagine you’re being chased by the wolf, or have tamed the dragon. sure it’ll be mild but it’s a new coaster, a new experience, and a new way to make memories with friends and family. It can even be enhanced with onboard audio and lighting if we want to get fancy

I just like to look on the bright side more often than not I guess.

This is a lovely perspective, and I agree!

I believe most of the dim view can be attributed to the history of the area and the proposals that went nowhere - they were jaw dropping in scale and would have made BGW more attractive to thrill seekers. The idea of having SOMETHING in the park over 205 feet (Griffon) is an appealing thought to many.

In the end, it is something new and potentially thoughtful, and we will have a better grasp soon!

Cheers to new and hopefully great memories in the area not too long from now.

I hope people will judge whatever is built on its own merits and not from proposed pre-pandemic projects

Also it’s much more marketable to families and general public think about it this way

You have twisted timbers up the road, would it have been taller and the tallest hybrid in the region? Sure but that’s a fringe record, same with spire, asides from being a stupid concept pardon my french, it was a gimmicky way to take back the Virginia height record which is again, a fringe record.

BGW wants to differentiate themselves with something that the region doesn’t have, a family inverted coaster. Iirc the closest might be Phoenix at denos or dragonflyer at Dollywood and both are marvelous rides that draw very large crowds. They’re crowd pleasers and that’s what we’re getting here. It isn’t what we wanted, but we’ll get something possibly even BETTER than what was initially proposed eventually.

And if I can run more than 1 train, that’ll be a win too. I’m wondering if this is a long term replacement for when/if they close off sesame for the 2nd gate?
