Before I start this post, some of what I’m going to say my be quite controversial. This is not something I want to have happen.

That said:
I feel like SEAS is in a race with itself to push the boundaries of the park to the edge of what they can. They was they are filling every expansion pad, every last bit of available ride land, every square inch. The SW part of SEAS is at that, so often putting in something new means losing something old.

I feel as though this expansion towards the Boneyard, along with where Pantheon went, is an attempt to put BGW (and to a lesser extent BGT) to the edges so they have to take things out for new rides to come in.

With that, they would be able to really going in on BGWs oldest and most unique structures all in the name of “improving the park”. They would be able to take out something like Wild Reserve for a new ride and go “where else would it go”.

While I like the expansion, I just hope all hope that they are very careful with what they do and what they put in there. They need to just just put a lame Giga and another hyper. They need something unique. They need to flesh out the area with food stands, drink stands, experiences, flats, games, shops.

Basically, they don’t need to hit a triple or home run here. They need a World Series winning, two out, grand slam of an expansion into Festhaus Park and Boneyard. They can’t screw it up, again, like they did adding Pantheon. It can’t just end up a coaster in a field offset from everything else.

I really home Kevin and his team in the park can sell corporate management that they need that. You can tell when you talk to him the love he has for the park. This can be his generational impact on the park by getting this area right. I’m just afraid Scott and the Corporate HQ team couldn’t give two shits about that and won’t let this happen the right way.

I think it's more likely that they are expanding toward the boneyard because they don't have to take anything out.

Removing attractions costs money and often leaves awkwardly shaped spaces to either fill or leave visibly empty. Meanwhile, Festhaus Park and the boneyard are either wide open field or easily made into the same. And much of the infrastructure for a major attraction or two is already back there. It's the easiest way to add profit-driving attractions, and if they don't add any new hamlet experiences around that space then the expense of construction and "forever" operating cost is limited only to the new rides themselves.

Which is why I 100% fully expect that whatever gets added back there will be a standalone attraction rather than a new hamlet experience. Sorry to say.

It's just the easiest path for SEAS to take.

I do agree, though, that after decades of having easily used space available and waiting for The Perfect Opportunity to be put to use, suddenly it is quickly getting built out in a way that makes slapdash appearances and half-hearted theming a permanent part of the park. Maybe whatever happens in Germany will change my mind.

Anyway, to my mind it isn't necessary to posit that the park is building toward its edges in order to grease the skids for legacy removals. Given the way SEAS has cut food quality, slapped surcharges on a ton of purchases, and generally weakened the park experience, they don't seem quite so cunning or concerned about the declining guest experience. To my mind, it seems much more likely that if they wanted to remove a legacy ride, they'd just find a reason and command that it be removed. LNM possibly being the exception.

If this is truly going to be a new 2024 coaster that means construction will begin at some point in the first half of next year. So when do we think the park will be submitting new revised plans for James City County for this project? I recall Susie and Kevin went before the Board of Supervisors about Drachen Spire but since plans have changed, I'd assume that they would have to do that again.

So how large is the plot exactly including the boneyard

Hey Google: Superimpose Zadra over that plot.
