So much for the pre-launch section according to this
Yeah, that's kinda what the entire morning's discussion has been about.

So when was this change made? A couple months ago?
Good question. @Zachary may know the dates better than I do- but the plans posted this morning that lack the launch building are file-dated 6/4/24, but on the actual plans it says 12/13/2023, which would have been just days before we started working on our precreation.

These files may have been there all along and just hidden, I'm not sure of the process. But everything else (queue, pathways, the ride itself) appears the same to the initial plans.

This is now a more detailed plan of the station right?

And just above the queue it says “Exposed Concrete, not sure if ride columns”. Do those match up with what we’ve already designated as ride footers , or could it be theming?

Also for the sake of thinking positively, now that the launch is uncovered, at least you get better views of the ride itself. You’ll be parked under the airtime hill and launched through the first corkscrew.

The loss of the launch building is upsetting to me too, but did anyone else notice this?

The new plans call for an open air station building, so is this referring to something like Emperor where there is no roof above the station? I really hope not, because not only would it be miserable for park guests who have to stand in the sun while queuing for the new coaster, but also for the ride ops who have to stand in position all day with no shade 😔

Open air means no walls on the sides but it has a roof

Not hardly. I wish I didn’t know what I know because it breaks my heart thinking the park could be sold again someday (unless it’s Hershend that buys it)

While it’s not for sure apparently it’s on the table along with some other parks.
This is obviously a topic for a different thread, but selling Kings Dominion wouldn't make a ton of sense.

Central Virginia is one of the fastest growing areas in the U.S., and it's by far the fastest growing region in the state of Virginia (specifically, New Kent is the fastest growing county in the state, with nearby counties not far behind). RVA is attracting big businesses, such as LEGO, CoStar, Amazon, etc. because of the city's growth and potential, as well as it's geographically central location on the east coast. There are 3 major interstates intersecting in the metro area (I-95, I-64, and I-85), as well as great rail service and a quickly growing airport, so it's extremely accessible to the most densely populated regions of the country.

Long-term, holding on to a park like KD is an investment in the present and the future. KD may have underperformed in recent years (though I'm skeptical of that claim as well...) but Cedar Fair has continued to invest in this park. HUGE investments, I might add, such as what's coming in 2025. Looking at the Cedar Fair/Six Flags chain, there are several other parks that make much more sense, such as Six Flags America; the land under that park is basically a DC metro area real estate gold mine. Other smaller, more neglected parks getting sold off would make sense too, unfortunately.

Tying this back to the 2025 wing coaster, P-305, the 50th celebration, etc... parks don't receive investments of that caliber all at once unless they're extremely lucrative or show immense potential. CF/SF selling KD would be quite the head scratcher. Jumping to that conclusion over unfounded rumors or the removal of a launch tunnel makes no sense.

Check out the graphic below and this study from UVA.

Eh, he probably heard it on Discord. I've yet to figure out why everything mentioned on there is taken as gospel. Do people just believe it's somehow full of dark web hackers that know everything, or do they believe that if someone took the time to wade through that train wreck then what they posted must be true?

I hope you are right but I’m also keeping in mind that anything is possible so I can’t dismiss what I’ve heard.

If you have credible evidence that you cannot reveal in public, please consider reaching out to an Admin. We can vouch for the validity of the rumor and protect the source.

If your sources do not need to be protected, however, it tends to help for people to explain where they heard things. For example, a ride op tends to have less credibility than someone in the room when decisions are being made.

If something is your opinion or assessment and not based on any outside source, please say that explicitly. Because we do leak real plans and credible rumors, people come here with the expectation that what they read has some factual basis. This makes it even more important that opinions be presented as such.

It was not heard on discord or any other website. Just forget I even mentioned it and time will tell.

Not sharing anything else about it. Did not come from a ride op or dipping dots kid. I’m not 20 years old and need a lecture about it. I said all that can be said about it. It’s not anything other than what I stated. Was just mentioning it because I thought maybe others here already heard things about it.

I’m sorry it even required such a response from Nicole or anyone else. Not trying to cause any issues here.

The removal of the launch tunnel and pre-show is obviously sad and disappointing, but based off the new plans it still appears there will at least be some kind of theming overhead on the pre-launch? Or am I misreading this?
