Interesting little dynamic going on between the two parks here.

BGW getting roasted for lack of themeing has put a lot of love in Nessie, and looks to be giving it to Holtz.

KD got the rightful love for TT but Tumbili got some cuts and now this getting a huge cut in the launch building.

It’s almost like they choose to be good at different things at different times on purpose.

What cuts did Tumbili get? Do you mean the sign or something else? The sign would have been a downgrade. Block view of the ride for no reason. They have a good entrance sign. They don't need big sign on the ride itself.

The sign. It’s still a cut at the end of the day.

It’s unfair to hold an attraction’s theming to the standard of what was included in an early, leaked blueprint. There was never any promise made to the public about it — they didn’t show it to us and cut it later. If it weren’t for the leaked blueprints and station plans, we never would have had any clue that an indoor pre-launch section was even in the cards. The final product may still be a highly themed attraction.

There’s a logical error in your statement, IMO. You’re comparing the wing coaster’s pre-“budget cut” theming to its post-“budget cut” theming and concluding that, somehow, this means BGW has chosen to focus on theming while KD has dropped the ball. Who’s to say that Holtzfaller won’t also have elements cut, perhaps ones we’ll never even know about? We actually know for a fact that some of Nessie’s plans were cut (the first “Nessie sighting” effect in the Rhine), but that doesn’t mean the final product isn’t great anyway.

It’s entirely possible that the post-“budget cut” wing coaster could still have more theming than either LNM or Holtzfaller. And even if it doesn’t, you couldn’t possibly know that just from seeing KD cut one element — out of presumably many — from their theming plans.

I’d agree if it were something minor. From the leaks this was a major thing however.

I’m also not on board with the “if it weren’t for leaks we wouldn’t know” part too. So as long as no one knows any and all cuts are ok? They still cut back on what was planned!

And I’m not assuming anything with my statement that it wouldn’t be. It’s rather interesting that Holtz got more added it seems while the wing got something taken away.

I know things can still be great. Things can also go the opposite way (looking at Squires Grill getting an awesome Reno from the picks and lousy menu).

Anyways. This was more an observation than trying to pass judgement on what the final ride will be. But I can say personally that I’ll wonder what could have been prior to the cut of the launch scenes that were planned at one point.

Sorta related, for what it's worth, Nessie's renovation had nothing to do with guest input, and everything to do with the state of the ride.

Being upset about a brand new ride that hasn't been announced yet will certainly not make them change plans or budget for the project.

This is the issue with leaks. Plans can change so much 12-24 months out. I genuinely think it's unfair to the park to get mad at them for cutting something from an attraction that hasn't even been announced. It'd be one thing if they announced and promised a tunnel/show scene then walked it back, but we're not even supposed to really know about this rn.

It's okay to be disappointed, but to act like the park slighted fans or did them a disservice is a bit much. It's just the nature of developing a new attraction. We should know by now not to get too attached to anything too early

EDIT: I'm now realizing others have said pretty much exactly this. I'll leave it up to reiterate that it's stupid to be anything more than disappointed.

For the record, I never said I was mad since now multiple posts are adding that connotation to an observation that I made.

Also - can we really call publicly available documents leaks? A major part of any building construction process is public review (your local zoning and planning meetings) where these plans are submitted through. Plans showing a building over the launch and then not over the launch and the station being open air is available the public now to everyone knows something was cut should they chose to look.

I agree. The concept art is just that, a visual concept of the potential attraction site. These drawings are probably made early on, right after the ride was decided on by by CF/KD. It gives the powers that be a chance see some conceptual art of the attraction itself and the attraction site and what it could be like. That was the concept and the ride, without the mounted ride sign, is the reality.

Yeah, I recall back in 97 seeing the concept art for Volcano....The concept art layout had WAY more going for it than the finished ride ever did....the downside, when I rode it on the first soft launch day in 98, I was super pissed to have waited 5 1/2 hours for the final product...

Also something else I noticed was that they appear to have started to build the station, the area within the black fence appears to be the path that goes under the station to the left side of the train. I don’t really have a good picture but I could see it pretty well from the top of reptilian’s lift hill.

New claw marks have been carved into the construction walls, and we now have a big crane back near the station area! Looks like we might be going vertical real soon!

I think the Claws rule out the trains being modeled after a plane - Unless the plane is escaping some massive bird (or maybe a pterodactyl?).
