This is obviously just a stupid meme, and I hate posting think pieces, but when I see stuff like this, and when I go on YouTube and see the hundreds of videos about the replacement from speculation to no limits creations, just makes me realize how much hype surrounds the replacement… like the demand is there. Dare I say even more so then when KI giga rumors started. Now that statement isn’t to compare but to put into perspective how big this is for the park. Now I know KD is considered a “mid tier” park, but it’s at the top of that list, and with this kinda hype and demand not ONLY from enthusiast but the gp as well, and with volcano being KDs most popular coaster (when it was open), I bet cedar fair is willing to splurge a lil more on the replacement than just 15 mill. I’m not saying they’re gonna get 25+million beast, but I’d say they stretch it 18 to maybe 20 mil. Now could I be delusional? Yes lol, 20 mil pushing it a bit but I do think 18 mil is very possible, especially with everything in mind I wouldn’t be surprised.

I think it's possible it could be a little more than $15M, and I certainly hope it is. I'm just using that number as an example.

I, too, don't expect Cedar Fair to cheap out on the Volcano replacement. I expect something notably more grand and eye-catching than the likes of Hangtime.
Honestly at this point, I expect them to ship in more rubble and make it a trash heap. My expectations from CF investing in anything meaningful at this park are non existent. They'll keep adding minor attractions, lipstick upgrades, and pavers and expect it to be celebrated. The last significant investment was 13 entire years ago.

What are twisted Timbers, delirium, and Jungle X if not significant investments?

You’re saying that a coaster including a 150-155 ft tall vertical lift, around as tall as Volcano was, with steep holding brake and beyond vertical drop isn’t eye catching?

I think that depends on what you consider "significant."

Personally, I think the Jungle-X retheme has changed the entire feel of the park. It is charming, immersive, and inviting. I also don't understand why people treat Timbers as a minor upgrade. It has virtually nothing in common with Hurler and is a fantastic coaster.

TT and Delirium were cheaper additions, being an RMC conversion and one flat ride. While the JX retheme may have costed more $$$, Tumbili itself was definitely a cheap.

But I wouldn’t be surprised if Richard Zimmerman knows how people want this project to be a banger. He was Kings Dominion’s GM around the time Volcano opened by the way.

There’s literally surveying going on at the Volcano site. Proposed excavation flags are in place, which I doubt would be to mark a “trash heap.” Plenty of us would take pavers over the eye-sore of asphalt. If JX is included in the “lipstick upgrades,” that’s just abhorrent. The retheme is actually quite meaningful for the park as it’s on an area that needs it most, with signs of more of it on the way. Other Cedar Fair parks are following in KD’s footsteps with this, and from what I’ve heard it’s been very successful.

KD has three theaters (Kings Dominion Theater, Peanuts Showplace, Action Theater) that have sat completely dark during the main season for years now, and they completely removed another show venue (Candy Apple Grove Stage) this year. Why would they want to add another show venue?

So they have something new to ignore.

Wouldn’t be the first time they both got coasters in a year (2022)
But that was due to Covid pushing everything back. Pantheon was supposed to be 2020 and Tumbili 2021.

However, I would like to see this replacement sooner rather than later.
