Strongly, strongly doubt it. Cedar Fair is all about playing it safe with their recent additions.
Man, the recent talk about it in this chat brought hopes up.Strongly, strongly doubt it. Cedar Fair is all about playing it safe with their recent additions.
A Theme Park Predictions video recently highlighted that Canada’s Wonderlands was a possible candidate for an inverted coaster that launches through the top of a mountain and I’m not sure if I’m more angry or sad.

I am starting to wonder if KD is looking into the coaster vs. flat balance for this project, and considering JX is back to six coasters with the addition of Tumbili, they might be seeing their chance with that big hole left behind by Volcano. My only issue is that KD seems lopsided, in the flatride-coaster balance. The right side of the park is fairly flat-heavy, and the left is fairly coaster heavy, with not a lot to help balance that out. Taking BGW as an example (though it may not be most ideal), the sections of the park with lots of coasters (read: Festa italia) also feature a variety of flats to balance that out. Pantheon, Apollo, and tempesto in one area? Well, here’s a teacups, a himalaya ride, and kiddie himalaya ride, plus a rapids ride. Oktoberfest? Verbolten and Darkoaster, balanced out by bumper cars, waveswinger, and roto Baron.
My point is, there should be a flat or two to balance out each coaster. The left of the park at KD features many coasters with little to offer a balance. I305, FoF, BSC, Anaconda, Reptilian, and Tumbili are balanced with… a scrambler. Racer, Apple Zapple, and Timbers are balanced with windseeker, carousel, bad apple, delirium, and drop tower.
Ideally, a flatride package would make the most sense because it would fix the lopsided-Ness of that area of the park.
I believe they could fit in one major flat ride alongside a compact but very thrilling coaster where Volcano used to be. They could also put one in CAG next to Delirium to use the rest of that space. I wouldn’t be so sure if a water park expansion is next because we only got Jungle X-Pedition and Grizzly retrack since Coconut Shores. As much as I would want Volcano’s replacement to be coming next year, I just really they’re gonna save that for the 50th in 2025.
My instinct is saying that we’re getting a Soak City addition next year, as much as I don’t want that to happen. I wouldn’t mind a flat ride package, I feel like the park could really use it. Maybe they could put them in Candy Apple Grove since Jungle X-Pedition has little to no room.
It’s start watching trademark applications then.Could Phase 2 (2024) be a retheme for the back part of Jungle X and Phase 3 (2025) be the larger Volcano replacement project?
I mentioned this on page 1 of this thread, but I wonder if the 50th Anniversary will be a two season celebration (like the 40th Anniversary in 2014 - 2015) and begin next year in 2024? If so, I could see this being a two part Jungle Xpedition project. Could Phase 2 (2024) be a retheme for the back part of Jungle X and Phase 3 (2025) be the larger Volcano replacement project?
If the larger Volcano replacement project doesn't happen until 2025, I certainly hope there is a smaller capital project planned for 2024. A flat or two like Kings Island (Sol Spin & Cargo Logo), Carowinds (Air Racer, Gear Spin, Airwalker, Gyro Force, & Windstar), or Canada's Wonderland (Tundra Twister) got this season would be great. The park really needs something to promote and sell season passes with this Fall and Winter...
