This is an insane take.
In what way? Like genuinly don't understand. Im a grown ass adult human being. Im responsibke for my body and how I handle things. How is it any different than being really big and complaining to the park they are fatphobic for not allowing me to ride something ect?

Only argument I see is they have to do EVERYTHING they can. Like adding a little shade and then its up to the guests. Even then if you are gonna pass out from some shade not being in a queue line then to me it sounds like you don't handle heat well in general, If that is what makes or breaks you. It may sound harsh but it is what it is in my eyes

Nice collection of Rapterra merch photos (including bonus KD 50th stuff too):

Not thrilled with a lot of the merch honestly. The ringer logo shirt and hoodie are nice enough for a basic offering, but everything else is just really standard (pretty cringy) designs I've seen a dozen times before. I was really hoping for a robust merch rollout like we got for Timbers' opening year with an array of custom, original designs, in-universe lore merch, plush, polos, etc instead of the very Tumbili-like selection that we seem to be receiving. Hell, even the Tumbili Flat Rock and full bleed designs in the last photo above are better than anything I see for Rapterra... 🙁

OOOH
I don’t care if it’s the ugliest shit there is… if there’s pantherian merch I’m buying!

Thinking back to when I worked at KD and had to help people who had passed out, I'm laughing at the idea of you scolding them for being irresponsible instead of lending a hand.

How do you think the park should handle people who pass out? Wait until the park closes and put an overpriced Waterworks beach towel on them?
Welp this is a rabbit hole im not getting into. Well never know if said person did all in their power to be prepared for a hot day so it's pointless to talk about. All my comment was about is mentioning do everything in your power to be prepared for a hot ass day. Thats all it was about lol Most passing out in the heat is people not preparing for it well. Eat, Drink, get some sugar in you, hats, sunglasses. Its a long list. If you do it properly and pepare for it then it should almost never happen.

Guests who pay to enter entertainment establishments have an abundantly reasonable expectation that said establishment will make a sincere effort to provide a safe, comfortable, low-stress experience to its guests.

If guests are uncomfortable or, worse, experiencing heat exhaustion, in the queues at a park, said park has failed to provide that safe, comfortable, low-stress experience to its guests and, hence, deserves the criticism that will naturally result.

I just can't fathom looking at a huge, open expanse of cattle pens on concrete where people will wait two hours on a hot summer day and thinking "Whelp, it's reasonable to expect guests to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and prepare for potential heat stroke if they want to ride a coaster they've paid to enjoy."

There's a reasonable expectation that KD, at a minimum, will provide shade and fans. If they don't, guests should (and will) be angry.

All I will say on this matter is that everyone is different. You shouldn't have to be in peak physical shape to enjoy a theme park. Heatstroke can affect anyone for a magnitude of reasons; some of which are uncontrollable.

Once upon a time, KD held the reputation (in comparison to the ever-shady Busch Gardens) of being an arid hellscape. It was hyperbole, for sure, but based in a fair bit of truth (Candy Apple Grove was particularly devoid of trees, and those they had tended to be paved up to the trunk). KD has worked hard to change not only the reality of that, but to also try to break that perception. Broiling the GP in a sunny field where the mountain once stood probably won’t help ingratiate the park with a customer base that tends to be fickle anyway. I hope the rumors of more shading to come are true.

And I completly agree. But lets be real its gonna be insane hell in that line either way. Virginia humidity is crazy. Shade barely does shit.

Maybe my brain is wired diffrently but when I got out in life or public I prepare myself. Its hot a hell outside? Yea I run the risk of overheating badly. Im the one who decided to go on a 95 degree day. Do I wanna go to Haunt on a saturday? Yea and im prepared to deal with annoying teenagers, terrible traffic, and 2hour lines. It's par for the course when you choose to do things at bad times of the year. Harsh reality Zach like come on.

And no im not against adding any shade lol Yes please add all you can to help try to prevent it some

If a park is going to operate on "hot as hell" days or days packed with "annoying teenagers," they need to make reasonable efforts to mitigate the negative effects of these environmental factors. That's the park's responsibility. Parks aren't like free-to-enter third places where you just get what you get and you gotta make the most of it. Amusement parks are entertainment businesses that take your money in exchange for providing you enjoyment. The entire point is that they must aim to provide a comfortable, enjoyable experience to all of their guests every day they operate. That's what people are paying for, that's what people expect, and that's what they deserve to receive.

I'm glad you're good at mentally preparing yourself to be disappointed by the lack of comfort these establishments sometimes provide, but most guests aren't—and I don't believe that's an issue. Furthermore, I'd strongly argue that, for the good of the industry, guests SHOULD expect to be kept reasonably comfortable during their visit because if that expectation does not exist, people will stop visiting.

So were essentially on the same page im just being extra. Yes they should add some sort of shade to midigate any problems.

Sometimes people get themselves involved in things without being prepared.

I was hiking in Valley of Fire state park on Wednesday. I met a couple from another state on one of the trails who looked like they were completely exhausted. They didn't have a backpack or anything. I offered them each a cold 16 oz. water from my backpack, which they proceeded to guzzle down instantly.

I could have told them "Dumb tourists, didn't you know the desert is hot? Didn't you prepare?" What good does acting like they do?
You act like I wouldn't help someone in need lol Ill still think in my head that though as im helping them. Just like people who need to get over last minute on interstate when you could see the exit sign a mile back.

I want to counter that heatstroke DOES happen to people that are fully prepared by drinking water, eating, etc, and other uncontrollable health conditions can exacerbate it too. Do I feel KD OWES those in line shade? No, but I do HOPE there's at least something along the way.

Nobody has yet to mention the line-cutting policy, in which people are not allowed to leave the line and return for any reason. I'm a proponent of this policy (not complaining about it at all) but in upholding that policy, it does force people to remain in line even if their bodies start to tell them otherwise. Trying to hold on thinking they'll be ok, for the sake of not wasting the last 45 minutes they've been standing in line already. To that end, I think it is reasonable to expect that KD provides SOMETHING in order to keep patrons in line somewhat comfortable.

Where’s the lockers gonna be the force you to leave all the stuff that can help with this? If the lockers are before the queue and there’s no shade or anything the park owes people the ability to find relief.

When I’m in line for Rapterra this summer I’m going to have five or six children/teens with my wife and me, and they sure can get whiny real fast if they’re uncomfortable. Do I expect the park to take reasonable steps to mitigate any potential misery while I shell out some serious (and hard-earned) cash to feed and entertain my kids? You bet your ass I do! 😂

Where people told that, specifically, some sort of shade structures were coming? Not doubting you, but a link would be super helpful.

If KD was telling media that, that's good enough for me. I'll look forward to seeing them in the weeks ahead.

It was in a handful of the YT videos that were posted later in the afternoon yesterday. Don't have one on deck at the moment, but it was at least 5 different ones

See, I agree 100% with you here. For whatever reason, people do stuff without thinking about the ramifications of their decision. Sometimes those people need to be protected from themselves
