True - Those are all very valid points. But you still have to give Cedar Fair props with what they're doing with this new area - as it's impossible to instantly reverse all those issues brought on from the Paramount days, overnight.

With Twisted Timbers, we finally saw Cedar Fair begin to consider theming at KD - where the Timbers theming of course was inspired by KI's Mystic Timbers theming. And though KD will never be able to compete with the charm of a park like BGW, you gotta start somewhere, right?

So though it's been a long time coming, it's inspiring to see the level of detail put into just this one single area (for one new attraction) - where I love going back to KD, week-after-week, and observing all the changes - and hope it's a continued sign of things to come.

As it has been discussed here and on the rumor thread, the initial Jungle X-pedition area appears to be part of a multi-year phased re-development master plan.

Given that KD did not open in 2020 except for a 2-3 week holiday tasting event; given that the park had a severely abbreviated operating calendar for 2021, there was not enough in the budget to do more in 2022.

If the park's future plans include a major re-theme of BLSC and FOF, that in itself could cost as much as a new ride such as Tumbili. I would not be surprised if a small to medium flat ride is added in the X-ped area in 2023. I assume the major new attraction is coming in '24 or '25.

In the mean time, there is going to be a obvious demarcation line between the refreshed portion of the area and what is left from KECO/Paramount/Cedar Fair. If at least FOF and BLSC get a makeover next year, then the cohesion issue will almost disapear.

BLSC interior cars are painted to be more of a sand colors. I’d imagine it’s the next thing up for retheme. Ride currently only has the white and blue trains there- red is nowhere in sight.

EDIT: Canada's Wonderland did a similar thing with their BLSC in 2014 when they repainted the cars.
 
Tumbili questions which is people's favorite side. I honestly have a hard time deciding this the flips on the planet Snoopy side are better but I feel like I get a little better drop pop on the Backlot side.

Unfortunately I can’t provide any input as the ride was closed when I went on Thursday. I’m assuming a result of the evac that happened on Wednesday.
 
I was speaking to a ride op the other day who told me that there's a consensus amongst the Tumbili ops that the backwards facing (in the station) seats on the Reptilian side are actually the favorite. Immediately after that, I got my best Tumbili ride yet in that exact spot. I know weight plays a big roll too and I was riding alone, but I'd say there may really be something to that front-side, backwards-facing opinion.

Ultimately, my conclusion after a good handful of rides is that Tumbili REALLY rewards rerides and people should give them all a shot—preferably with and without a second rider. There's just so much potential variety!

Cedar Fairs installations at the Taft oaks since around 2017 have been great. They theme the ride and retheme the area. Cedar Fair has done a lot to reverse the Paramount damage. There was just SO much Paramount damage.

It’s just a shame such a nice park like KD that is getting nicer is so poorly run by mgmt that false advertises and closes for low attendance. What they are doing in Jungle X is great, but it’s low investment. They won’t invest much in this park now because of the low crowds and the low crowds are a direct result of their management.

Backlot is the biggest eyesore in the park. As well as at Kings Island. At least at Wonderland they built it off to the side. The biggest improvement KD and KI could make is retheming this junkyard looking monstrosity.

I mean why do you care they lost your business right? If you are not going to visit why do care what it looks like?

Anyways, for what it is now, does Tumbili offer a good enough throughput for re-rides not requiring an extensive wait between?

Took a ride on the front facing car on the Reptilian side and it did a triple flip in the middle so hard that it pulled blood up from my legs which I could still feel after getting off the ride. I‘ve done this ride twice now, and though the ride isn’t long, some of the moments of intensity are higher than anything else in the park.
