I've been thinking -- if we got something that themed, likely Pantheon isn't built by Intamin, which means the ride isn't as good, which means the theme elements is kinda covering for a bad ride.

Taking from the ride hardware budget isn't the only way to have a theming budget. SEAS can slow down the pace of major additions to scale up the overall budget for those major investments.

I'd much rather see 2022 through 2027 be...
Themed Pantheon, Flat, Themed DarKastle, Flat, Themed Drachen Spire, Flat, etc.

Than...
Unthemed Pantheon, Unthemed DarKoaster, Unthemed Drachen Spire, Unthemed Coaster, Unthemed Coaster, Unthemed Coaster

I mean....I completely agree. In fact it's something I love about the way Hersheypark operates. But at the speed they seem to want to add things this seems like the option we are getting.

In fact.....if Drachen Spire got delayed to theme both Pantheon and DarKoaster (I thought of a cool thing they could do with that) I would happily take that tradeoff.

So do we have any idea as to what the grand opening Friday will consist of?
Im guessing someone dressed as a Roman just like Tempesto and Invadr did, A quick speech by Kevin, A quick ribbon cutting then the ride will go down for wind after the first train of hand selected riders for the news. I really dont see them doing a Verbolten style event. Temps are looking great for Friday although weather chennel forcast is 10-20mph winds. I would suspect they use the faster speed setting for the first ride to avouid any chance of a rollback or valley and fingers crossed the switch works.

they cant run the ride in boost mode with people on it. they just have to hope for the best as the lsms on pantheon do not compensate for wind or train load in its normal operation mode.

Can they actually not or are they just not doing it to avoid overworking it?

I have never missed theming on wooden rollercoaster. I like a great ride. Theming is nice and all, but if that is making the rides worse than I vote for no theming. Don't @ me. As far as Pantheon, though, if we will continue to not be able to wear eyeglass with a secure strap, then I guess in that case I'd have taken a worse ride with theming, and the ability to wear glasses on it. Like, for sure 100%.

Team members rode it that way at first from my understanding, if they load it with all team members they may be willing to do it to make sure they dont have a media disaster. From my understanding the only reason it cant run that way is it will overheat with repeated use.

I'd be fine if they scrapped DS entirely to theme DarKoaster extremely well and give Pantheon a sprucing. If I wanted unappealing steel I'd just drive up to SFGA for big cool coasters. Not why I come to BGW.

Pantheon does have theming, you get the smell of horse pasture and the view of dumpsters and grease traps before you travel high with the roman gods on Pantheon. Its a full sensory experiebce.

This doesn't match any of what I've been hearing for the record.

Everything I've heard says the "boost" mode is only an option while Pantheon is in maintenance mode.

im almost 100% sure at this point that pantheons boost mode was once the intended speed. only 1 person rode this mode, an intamin employee. apparently they told bgw about how it was and bgw wanted it slowed which resulted in the original speed becoming boost mode.

What would that be used for? I’m trying to think of a time they would need more force and speed to get a empty train over the top hat.

I'm not a physicist, but my understanding is that the concern isn't clearing the top hat, it's the risk of a valley between the top hat and the outerbank. From what I gather, that's the cause of Pantheon's low wind limit too.

Ops claim that "boost" mode is currently used for warming up the track/wheels. Given that we know cooler track and wheels run slower (particularly in colder weather), I don't have any reason to doubt this.
