Asterix is 40 mph first launch iirc and that has a top speed of 66 mph. I can see something up to 45 with this the first launch which is plenty of speed to provide some intensity with that pretty compact first part.

I think that this ride will feature little theming. SEAS is in a win now mentality. While they have committed to major themed rides such as cobras curse it seems as though the emphasis currently is on getting all the parks rides and attractions every year. The park has still gone by the pattern of cutting the fat and i think that theming will be seen as fat. Verbolten was a financial failure for the park based on the figures. I think it's a fine roller coaster but the cost to build vs revenue was terrible. I think we are seeing a "major investment" done here, with the context of SEAS being on thin ice.

IMO, we won't see any huge ballsy additions for the next several years. If the company can turn a profit for a few years, then look for some attention grabbers to pull in the crowds

Because the scale seems rather toned down. I doubt this is more than a 20M investment.

I wouldn't guesstimate cost without a number or any sort of precedent to judge it on. Intamin is also one of the most expensive manufacturers to work with, in general, so it's rare for an investment to come "cheaply" for any park.

First, As someone who worked at the park I have some knowledge of this. I don't think you will find very many people who would label Verbolten a failure. Did it perform as well as the park wanted? No but it still made money and drove attendance.

Second, as far as ballsy additions go BGT is building what will be the fastest and steepest hybrid coaster in the world. It will also be the tallest in North America. BGW is going to be building a roller coaster that will be the first of it's kind. And San Diego is building an impressive Dive Coaster. Also we've seen permits for a new roller coaster in Orlando. Also according to the leaked slides ( I know, I know) San Antonio is supposed to be building a new wooden roller coaster as well and it is supposed looking to be the fastest, tallest, etc in Texas. That's 5 ballsy additions in 2020 alone. Those rides will bring substantial crowds next year.

Just for $ talk
Fury 325 - $30m
Intimidator 305 - $25m
El Toro - $25m

El Toro's price was never confirmed, but it's widely believed to be in that ballpark.

For other comparison:

B&M Batman Clone: $12 million
B&M Bizarro Clone: $15 million
S&S Free Fly: $10 million
Nitro: $20 million
Thunderbird: $22 million
Top Thrill Dragster and Kingda Ka: ~$25 million
Gerstlauer Eurofighter 1000 (Takabisha): $28.5 million when adjusted for currency

For further reference: SEAS is investing over $175 million in Capital Investments. They can afford to drop some coin on a new ride.

Again (and I'm so so sorry to bring up Copperhead Strike's theming this am...lol) I'm not (as I think most aren't) looking for Disney-ish theming. Just come up with a good story and tell it. As someone said earlier - something between Invadr and Verbolten.

Now, how about the river dive...that'll be something, huh
Subject change in effect

I.....I.....I don't get why this matters so much.
It's all my fault...I started it because I was angry that college basketball preempted all my favorite shows....I promise I'll never do it again...this week.

Besides that, people were tired of arguing how tall this thing was going to be.

People have mentioned, here and there, about speed. I'd love to see if the landscape plan (someone said they had a copy) shows any new trees, bushes, etc. in close proximity to the track. I think zooming by close-in stuff makes you think you're traveling fast. Plus that "surprise factor" of not seeing what's coming.

I had 750 unread posts upon opening this thread today, that spanned twenty something pages. (Yawn.......) I’m pretty sure I didn’t miss much (I read the ‘very well done’ front page article).....I am also wired directly into the deer, so I am blessed with that intel as well. What’d I miss?
