But @Nicole , it's not creating a story that is the issue. It's telling the story. I swear I thought I was up (for a lot of reasons) on all things BGW. But when my grandson and I rode Invadr I had no clue what the story was supposed to be. I had to ask here.

I'm not expected BGW to go full-Disney...just show us the story.

BTW - I suspect they'll rename the service road to the Appian Way and be done with it.

I'm honestly of the opinion that BGW's themed attractions are the outliers of the park. BGW has typically added coasters with minimal to no themeing all across their history but the rides with actual themeing effort like Alpengeist, Pompeii, and Verbolten have been the exceptions to the rule. I get the feeling that BGW has long poised that the countries carried the themes, and the coasters were sort of isolated on their own.

I honestly don't expect Madrid to have much in terms of themeing outside of maybe some elements in the queue. Based on the plans put in the queue is mostly going to be a straight shot outside of the queue house, so there's not really an "environment" BGW can make in the queue.

And, though this is not what I prefer, I'm perfectly fine with it since it'll be off in the middle of nowhere minding its own business.
 
It seems to me that BGW themes hamlets more than rides, in general. It also seems to me that is a problem for a theme park.

In my opinion, a major difference between a "theme park" and a "themed amusement park" is the depth and coherence of the storytelling. Ironically, KD seems to be doing a better job with this right now. Look at Twisted Timbers. The story threads its way through everything in the area.

And @GrandpaD, you can't tell a story you haven't written. I agree that follow-through is important, but if you don't start with a well-conceived story, you don't have a common basis for every decision you make after.

While I also don't agree with the themeing of InvadR BGW does show effort when the ride is integrated with its country for the most part. Alpengeist, Darkastle, InvadR, and Verbolten had some effort put into their themeing due to how integrated they are with their country.

Also I was under the impression that Griffon's queue was a French Winery?
 
I so so hate the notion that every ride has to be extensively themed or have a backstory. Sure it shouldn’t look bad but having nice landscaping + some props is more than enough in a park that isn’t trying to be Disney or Universal.

I’m definitely not crazy about how Tempesto or Invadr’s queues look (besides the plazas) but having a nice environment (MMXX, Finnegan) or prettily designed station (Griffon, AC) gives the ride an automatic advantage over most of Cedar Fair and pretty much all of Six Flags.

I'd content that any attraction without a story doesn't belong in a theme park.

The very idea that we are comparing Busch Gardens Williamsburg to any Cedar Fair park is, frankly, tragic.

Dude there isn’t a single park in NA that themes every single ride that isn’t Disney or Universal.

Totally agree. The story should either impact the actual ride experience (dark ride, fluch von novgorod, etc.) or just doesn't matter and clutters the experience.
 
One thing I do hope for that prob won’t happen is water cannons on that turn out of the drop
