RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

The issue of using Drachen Fire's station is nonexistent, really. The station decline can be leveled as seen with Verbolten in Big Bad Wolf's station. It doesn't matter which way the train dispatches the station. That layout seems interesting as it seems to be a terrain accelerator which lines up with the small tributary of the Rhine adjacent to the train bridge. A speed hill low to the river allowing the river boats to pass seems possible as well. That lines up perfectly to the proposed top hat in the spot where the 315 foot test was located. That layout has potential to be fairly attractive.

If this indeed is an accelerator by intamin. Is it going to be longer than most accelerators with more elements other than the launch top hat sequence? They did mention lattice type construction which describes the top hat tower supports. Also the width at the tallest point matches the height waiver.

The detail that leaves me skeptical is that this is an accelerator. Isn't the defining characteristic of that model the hydraulic launch? Intamin hasn't used a hydraulic launch since Formula Rossa in 2010.

Red Force at Ferrari Land in Spain uses LSM instead of a hydraulic launch, and its height is 367ft. My guess would be that they would use a LSM launch system if the Accelerator rumor is correct, especially since Busch has been using a lot of magnetic launch/braking systems in recent history.

You know, just yesterday I debated kvetching here about how little enthusiasm I would have for a launched ride that had a lone 300+' tower and otherwise never topped 100-150'.

But it didn't seem like a good idea to mention that specific concept at the time...

When the prevailing rumor was that a giga would be a B&M, I was worried it could be a "letdown" like Leviathan, doing relatively little compared to the hyper in the same park.

Now that the prevailing rumor is the Intamin Accelerator, Red Force is the letdown I'm afraid of: a basic "rocket coaster". At least such a ride would fill the hole in Virginia's coaster lineup left by Hypersonic XLC. Due to the scale, we could be looking at a 100 mph launch, so there's that to appeal to GP.

I've been thinking: what would an RMC giga be like? (The T-rex track is the size of Intamin giga track).

I actually have heard this could be a launch coaster, but with a full layout including a drop into the Rhine. Heard this a while back! Granted it is all hear say but I have indeed heard launch of some kind is in play.

I don't care if its launched or not but please, please, please do NOT make this a red and yellow giga. Like anything but a color scheme to make it look like a literal sibling of i305. Because we know whatever this attraction is, its going to completely dominate the parks skyline. I think we can all agree on that. Sadly the worst part about that potential scheme is that it would technically be deemed complimentary to the other coasters in that area of the park.

How are we sure this is an Intamin?

Not that I would look deeply into these highly classified documents, but it said "Intamin Amusment Rides" with the logo on one of the sheets.

Sorry but this seems fishy to me. I didn't see the plans before they were taken down but Madrid Bot claims he got them from the contractor brother (or he's the brother?). First, what contractor goes around randomly giving out construction plans to his brother? Second, I highly doubt there's any construction happening yet. BG just got the height waver last week and as I understand it they still need to get all of there building plans approved before construction starts. With the VR ride already announced for next year I doubt they are already hiring contractors for something that might be three years away. He also claims to have gone to kings mill meeting and they approved the colors there. It was the county that specified the colors and I don't think kingsmill can override that. I think Madrid Bot is just making up wishful thoughts but giving a lot is supposedndetail to look legit.

I believe that's there's really two options. Those documents are pretty official looking. I know those could be faked but I really can't see someone going through the trouble just to lie or as a joke. My two options are:
#1 He's telling the truth.
#2 Those are fakes sent by Busch because we are getting too close to the truth. Another reason BG may have leaked is people stopped talking about "Project Madrid" the day before this leaked because of all of the other theme park announcements. Maybe they want people talking but in suspense.
Either way, imo, we can be sure it will be a roller coaster because if this turns out to be the second option it would be a huge letdown if it isn't a coaster. A whole lot of people will be pissed and BG/SWE needs all the help it can get.

Edit: Also Red Force is in Spain and the capital of Spain is... Madrid.

Figures... I show up late on the ONE day that features both dubious scuttlebutt and minor brouhaha.

Sigh.

You and me both!

So everyone join me in a fictional fantasy world... So let's just pretend that these are real and everything MadridBot said was true. Remember we are pretending. Based on what we know about BGW let's think about some things.
  • What could have happened inside BGW after a 22 year prohibition of Intamin (that is so convoluted that the park would go to an unproven manufacturer to build Mach Tower just a couple of years ago) that would suddenly make the park install not only an Intamin product but one of their largest and most expensive catalog items?
  • Would the layout be as basic as Kingda Ka & Top Thrill Dragster, or would it have a little more layout to it like Xcelerator or even more wishful thinking would it have an even larger layout like Red Fire?
  • Why the hell would the park install a third launched coaster after already having two? Are they trying to beat KD for the most number of launched coasters in a single park?
  • Why use Drachen Fire's station when the park has had many opportunities to reuse it multiple times over the years, but opted not to?

Please, speculate and answer these questions with the imaginary assumption that this is all true, even though 22 years of evidence says otherwise.

The elimination of Bitten and gutting of that building does make you go hmmmm.

With rumors ranging from a giga coaster to asbestos being the cause of it being retired, I really wonder. I doubt it had anything to do with asbestos.
