RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

Asbestos was phased out of residential construction by the mid-70s, before most of Busch Gardens was built.

I don't know much about the asbestos timeline for commercial construction, but I have to imagine there were precious few significant sources of airborne asbestos being thrown into amusement enclosures in 1991.

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

I'm sure we all heard the Drachenfire station rumour as soon as it was announced bitten would be closing for this year's howl-o-scream. That rumour has the same value as the tram guy staring "a new coaster twice the height as AP by the same makers". All of these are still interesting.
As for reasons busch may change their mind about being so against Intamin there are several. Maybe there was more of an issue with a specific employee. Maybe they learned something from verbolten/tempesto. Intamin is the biggest manufacturer that is absent from this park's coaster portfolio. Could just be about money and nothing else, they see too much to gain by adding an Intamin. This could even be a push from higher ups we known the aversion to Intamin is more of a BGW thing and not a SWP&E thing.
I'm not grasping for reasons to believe MadridBot. I find the color scheme idea hard to believe, especially given how picky JCC is about things even as small as signs and because I believe I read this thing will be visible from Jamestown. Maybe this guy mixed up some facts, maybe it's true, maybe it's complete fabrication, but I believe Busch had three blueprints manufactured for one reason or another.

I'm telling you, don't be surprised if this is an RMC giga.
Really not convinced RMC would go straight from Railblazer and Wonder Woman in 2018 to BGW Giga T-Rex Track in 2019. Maybe if it was for 2020.

Who says it's in 2019? The height waver is good for three years so they just have to start construction by summer 2020. Could even open in 2021.

Because this project has been a thing for a while now.

What do you mean it's been a thing for a while? This thread just started in July? I remember something about a balloon test a couple months ago but haven't seen anthing other than random speculation about all kinds of things before that. But I haven't always followed things religously, so maybe I missed something.

When the park does a height test they already have an idea of what they want and a design is most likely already complete. That's why the height waiver is 315 the ride will most likely be between 305' and 315'. Just like DF there was a rumor B&M completed the design but arrow had to take over because they were busy with six flags inverted coasters, or Arrow somehow viewed the designs for Kumba. Busch already knows what's going up so a jump to RMCs new design seems farfetched.

There is a big difference between concept and design. IF they are going to build a coaster I am certain the internal design teams have come up with a concept and may have even put it out for a RFP (request for proposal) but that is hardly the same thing as a fully flushed out design and build.

As for DF. All we know about DF B&M vs Arrow are long lost tales and rumors. We have no idea if and how far into the design process B&M got before Arrow took over. All we know is that the ultimate Arrow design was not effective and contained elements that looked like things B&M had done in the past. I suspect only Larry could tell us the whole truth.

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

Griffon's height waiver was applied for on 1/23/06. It opened May 07.  I believe Verbolten was April 7, 2011 for the height waiver and opened May 2012. Project 2017 was announced in the end of January 2016. It opened April this year and this time last year work was well under way. That's 16 months for Griffon 15 for Verbolten and I believe we are in the same stages of this ride we were in during Jan 2016 for Invadr. I see a strong pattern here. Considering this is a much bigger project at 315' and the park isnt really open in January I'm willing to bet this is a 2019 ride.
The new VR ride is opening for 2018 I doubt there will be any announcement or teasers until after that opens. If this was just a tower the height waiver could have waited until at least the offseason.
There is a long process in designing and building a roller coaster. You could go to B&M and ask for a 400 foot sit down and they may tell you "We don't have the technology for that" or it may just be out of Busch price range. Why file for a height waiver that may be turned down. It does not make sense unless you already have a full design already approve with a company.

They likely got approval without a full design (assuming there was no full design before the waiver was applied for) since they knew what they wanted in their ride. Busch knows what they want in a ride (rough height, ride elements, potential layouts, general station location, etc.) before they get a manufacturer to come up with a design, as Zimmy stated. Also, I'm fairly certain just because they got approved for 315 feet, doesn't mean they have to build that tall - it just means they can build that high. I'd say 315 feet covers just about all the bases for a majority of attractions.

It will be within 50 fert of the 315 or there would be no need to file for special ffa approval.

do you mind sharing those screenshots with me? very curious (will not re share or show anyone). all I'm getting is that this is a launched Intamin coaster?

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

!!! Hey guys - yesterday we took the train (8/19) and I saw and counted I think 4 pink flags/construction wooden stakes near Drachen Fire station. Didn't have time to get the camera out!!!

Looked like the exact same ones that were set up near Le Scoot last year that turned out to be InvadR's station/launch area.

Missed the leaked plans or rumors but if anyone could message me or fill me in that'd be awesome.

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

I sure hope these plans are false, because I will be highly disappointed in BGW if they install a launched version of I305 right down to the color scheme...not to mention I think this will be a major eyesore for the park.

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

I did not get to see the plans either, but being where DF was makes you wonder. Is there any chance we could see the new hamlet here? Possibly even on both sides of the tracks. They could even finally add another train station. There were rumors years ago about a hamlet here and an entrance from a resort. With SWP@E planning resorts at other parks, could this be back in the cards here as well? Without something of this scale it seems odd to reuse a location that failed, partly due to flow and isolation.

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

I would hope that if the new attraction does indeed reuse the Drachen station that the plan is to expand the park into that area with a new hamlet or mini village.

I would want to see some sort of town/village facade wrap around the Verbolten show building to hide it from guest view since that area would now be a guest facing area. I think there is still plenty of space for that.

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

Nothing conclusive was shown just interesting. I wouldn't buy into it just yet rumors are everywhere.  They even talked about something being built while i wason the train yesterday (yes the train not the tram).  It's not possible to come to a conclusion based on what has been said earlier in the thread. MadridBot just wanted attention.
