RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

Do you think they would ever get rid of the rapids to give the space for another attraction?

I think it could be a possibility.  Rapids rides really only see peak ridership on hot days in the middle of the day, are a beast to keep up, and cost more than they are worth.

I think the last time I rode Roman Rapids was 1997 or so.

Festa really could use an anchor attraction that runs throughout the season.

BGW does not exactly have a surplus of water rides... but personally I would not miss RR if it went away.

Uhhhh.....Apollo says hello.

Oops, good catch. Meant to specify the back half of Festa. Apollo typically is a "cross the bridge, ride it, cross the bridge in the other direction" attraction for me, and I know I'm not the only one. Beyond the Apollo/Tempesto area is a lackluster restaurant, highly seasonal rapids ride, the smallest and most unimproved train station in the park, some rides that I enjoy but don't really go out of my way for, etc. It all just feels like lost opportunity back there.

Drawing crowds to the back of Festa -- or at least through it en route to some another noteworthy full-season attraction -- would be smart.

Everyone keep in mind a height waiver has to go before the JCC Board of Supervisors in a public meeting where the applicant usually gives a statement and is asked questions where some details can potentially be learned.

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

What we obviously need here is to have a JCC Board member who is also a massive coaster/park fan.

"Well, I'd like to approve this waiver, but first I think we need to know some absolutely crucial information: did Arrow copy Drachen Fire's layout from a B&M design, either directly or indirectly? What did they know and when did they know it?"

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

Personal wants and dreams aside, I really do hope the park gets something grand - whatever it is. The last decade has been mostly solid, but lacking in the wow factor retrospectively speaking. Even if it's a star flyer, I hope it's the most badass star flyer the world has ever seen.

True but if I remember correctly when Tempesto got its hearing they were alloud to keep much confidential as the details were considered proprietary.

In my experience most counties/localities will let the parks have a decent amount of leeway with what exactly is going there until the ride is made public. I wouldn't expect a whole lot of information on this past this point in these filings.

I was also thinking....could they be using Madrid as a "shoutout" to fans like us as opposed to a whole new hamlet?

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

It'd be kinda cool if they had a coaster in festhaus with the lift hill going over the Rhine and peak in festa.

A coaster *in* festhaus would be amazing. Maybe it could swoop in from the castle at the back and bank right to go back out again through the wall. Though I'm concerned dining guests would throw food at passengers. I know I would.

They did drive a Le Mans car through New France during one of the InvadR teaser vids... so playful trolling is within the oeuvre.

Are we aiming to have Catapult relocated to every Hamlet in the park? :p

Hahaha the only reason I put that in originally is because I had this whole plan before this "Madrid" thing popped up to move the catapult somewhere and construct an S&S Screamin Swing in the spot where Le Catapult currently resides. After some measuring, a 36 seater swing fits perfectly in the spot between smokehouse and the train. I thought it would be a neat addition and I'm a huge fan of them

I think I might suggest a new rule in the PFN Advisory Board... Something like, I dunno, "Don't mention or bring up adding an Intamin product to Busch Gardens Williamsburg as it's been thoroughly established that that is not going to happen."

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea...

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

I think my question becomes:

Would B&M ever be willing to try new systems to help a train get to the top of a hill.  I know Intamin is out, but they use LSM and Cable Lifts to go a little steeper and faster.  I know that Hulk uses tires (or at least used to) in order to get the train going.  Could something like that work?  I'm just thinking if it's a giga coaster....is there really the proper distance to get the train up to the required height without a steeper than typical (for B&M) lift hill.

I doubt that we will ever see a coast cross the Rhine fully, but it would be cool if they could build one that would lift with the Rhine on the left, turn dive to the right for 270*, go across the river with floater air, hammerhead on the opposing bank, ejector air back across, and into a combo of airtime and high speed banked turns without crossing the river again.

Could give space for a new hamlet, the ability to tie a hamlet together across the river, and add a really cool element visually to the park.https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1aSsp1B8H1x59H1IAXg1pNl7l_7PS7N86taq9kn03tvQ/edit?usp=sharing

This may not be a popular sentiment here, but I would rather not ruin the overall park ascetic or distinct hamlets with a giant park covering coaster. If they can fit a large and more intense coaster without causing those issues I'm all for it. A great new coaster would be awesome and a huge draw for coaster fans, but BGW is unique and loved because of its character and charm.
