RE: 315' Height Waiver: Coaster? Tower? New Hamlet? Madrid?

If this is a new themed area, I hope they build another crossing over the Rhine River so you can get to Germany, or at least give it an entrance / exit somewhere around the San Marco Theater. Festa Italia is already somewhat of a dead end and a new country in this area would make this even worse.... All my opinions of course.... :)

How bout a 300ft stand up dive coaster. Now that is frightening. Just kidding lol. Does sea level come into play with this? If the land is 50ft above sea level then that means the coaster will be around 250ft?

Id love to see spain there and a t-rex coaster called Raging Bulls or something.

Nope, the pictures of skyline impacts in the filing expressly say 315' above grade.

Which in return, (if this was actually a coaster) could mean they could potentially use the slope to the water level to make the drop taller than the lift. (Like they did with Apollo)

That is true. I would like to think, if this is a coaster, it would have to cross over river at some point. There just doesn't seem to be enough land for a large scale attraction on that "peninsula".

All this talk about a star flyer got me thinking about a Mexican tradition of pole flying. I'm not sure if it originated in Spain but would tie in nicely to the Madrid theme if that is the case.

Agreed, especially if they do not want to interfere with the Colonial Pipeline easement. I think that some sort of interaction with the train trestle would be really cool. I'm envisioning the start of a lift hill at the southeast corner of the "peninsula" that crosses perpendicular to the train tracks and runs along the edge of the existing tree line along the Rhine, bringing the peak to the balloon test location, dropping, and then immediately turning around and heading for the trestle to cross the Rhine. Maybe not realistic, but one can hope.

Are you thinking like the purple lines in the drawing I attached?

I also drew out a possible path in green that could work and not cross the Rhine at all. The only issue I see is it going over Italy and San Marco area, and BG doesn't seem too keen on something like that. The other downside is that keeping it to one side would give a small "Madrid" area if contained to one side.

The problem with the green layout is that it goes right over the theater in San Marco. Nothing much more distracting than a coaster flying overhead during a show.

I wouldn't mind seeing them cross over towards Drachens fires old location....I think that land has potential. I wouldn't think BGW would go anywhere near San Marco and Italy. The trees that would have to be taken out would be significant. With that said, I think a coaster running along the Rhine would be amazing imo. All theory's and wants right now. I can't wait to see how this unfolds.

Yea I admitted as much too. If they can get down into the easement somehow, and make a low point go under the pedestrian bridge it could work.

Do you think they would ever get rid of the rapids to give the space for another attraction?

I think it could be a possibility.  Rapids rides really only see peak ridership on hot days in the middle of the day, are a beast to keep up, and cost more than they are worth.

I think the last time I rode Roman Rapids was 1997 or so.

Festa really could use an anchor attraction that runs throughout the season.

BGW does not exactly have a surplus of water rides... but personally I would not miss RR if it went away.

While I feel that it will be a starflyer of some sort I still hope that it will end up being a B&M giga.

Before Mako according to an interview with an anonymous executive of the SWP&E chain with Orlando United now known as Inside Universal BGT was looking into getting a giga focused on airtime, but corporate instead felt they needed a more family friendly attraction so Cobra's Curse came to reality and a hyper coaster focused on airtime Mako at SWO opened the same year in 2016.

Now am I just trying to connect dots so I feel that this permit is actually a giga coaster? Yes, all this means it that people in chain have attempted to build a giga and failed so now that there is a permit for over 300 feet I'm curious with Manby at the helm of this ship if he wants to bring a star coaster to this park that he had spoke greatly of in the past. Whatever happens I'm already filled with excitement and ready to see what the future holds.

What if on warfelg image the coaster turned left near the rapids crossing only the small part of the Rhine over to close to the vehicle exit. The boats don't go that far back I believe. That would also put it close to the turn around area for Apollo with some interaction possible. There is quite a bit of topography they could use over there also.

The space they chose screams major coaster imo.  If I was BGW and was thinking about the noise of a major coaster, where would i put it? Fiesta. That area of the park is the most isolated so it actually makes total sense noise-complaint wise to put in a major coaster there and not in the back (drachen) or in Ireland.

I also think while the parks have been doing smaller investments, Mako was a pretty big deal for Seaworld Orlando.  So I really don't find it that hard to believe it to be a major coaster after a now 12 year dry-spell (2019). If BGW makes a new coaster thats thrill oriented it makes sense for it to be giga over a second hyper. The sheer concept of them pushing a new coaster thats in the same hypercoaster ballpark as Apollo is somewhat redundant.

Silly suggestion, but they could be super sassy towards KD and build the first RMC T-Rex just to out shadow Hurler. It would def put us on the map again.

I hate to disagree with part of your statement but BGW probably considered Tempesto to be that thrilling ride. I am thinking they are seeing it as only a 2 year dry spell since a major thrill. However, I do agree that its been 12 years since they have received a large scale thrill ride. I do believe whatever they put there will be a thrill ride whether its a Star Flyer, Giga, or something else since this year and next would be considered more family friendly.
