I'm the 'someone else' (that posited the name Hercules), and I have no inside info. Just pure, white-hot brilliance.
Hercules is Disney IP, so that's a no go.
It's likely that they're not going to pick something from actual history unless the name is either well known or badass enough.
If they're going Roman, I wonder if they'd take the name of a conquered land (potentially fictional) that became part of the empire?

Didn't stop Dorney Park with the worst wooden coaster in the US. As long as BGW doesn't cartoonishly display the character and instead represent the actual historic figure Disney can't do poppa squat.
Hercules...is def not Disney IP unless they go with LITERALLY Disney's Hercules like a knockoff preschool mural
Am I the only one who thinks "Hercules" would be a terribly boring name? Also, possibly too similar to Apollo.

The park could use Hercules. They also could put an Infinity Coaster in the water next to Ireland, and name it Tangled. Maybe Griffin could have been named Ratatouille.
But why? There are so many other names in the world to use, and still others to come up with anew.
Plus, the mighty Hercules will likely be dwarfed by whatever huge attraction will be looming on the hillside looking directly across at him from Festhaus Park. Not a great look for the most powerful man ever to live, the supernatural son of Zeus.

In all honesty I hope the park doesn’t use any Greco-Roman mythology for the theming! They already have one in AC.
The only thing we have to go on (except for that "Kevin said 8 letters in the name" thing which I think is a curveball to throw people off) is Kevin said at the MMXX tease "I think the Roman Gods have something special for everyone in 2020". Add to that those Roman columns and the MMXX font. So I think that "Nero's" the choices.
Gladiator has 9 letters. Try GladiatR.
I don't think BG has any issues blending mythology or fudging something to make it fit the park/theming. I don't think they had crazy circus motorcycle daredevils in Ancient Rome.
Gauntlet has 8 letters. A tribute to the loudest and most unexpectedly boring ride in park history. The name was fine, though. Just drop the "Gladiator's" part, since the 8-letter clue is clearly unassailable gospel.
How about Ballista. The big launch may bear comparison to a Roman siege engine / bolt thrower.
