General Information:

"Project Drachen Spire," is a community-generated identifier for the Intamin-made, multi-launch, shuttle giga coaster that was originally slated to open at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in 2021. The attraction is planned to utilize the currently-vacant land behind Verbolten, Festhaus Park—the former home of Drachen Fire.

The coaster's main layout—as leaked before the addition was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic—featured two launches, two spikes (one spiral, one vertical-ish), and a couple of banked turns. Drachen Spire was designed to run two trains by means of a pair of switch tracks connecting the primary, shuttle portion of the layout to the station platform.

Hey peeps! Here’s my take. This is not a tower ride. Perspective of how this thing will look from a ‘certain angle’ gives it away. A tower ride looks exactly the same from every angle. If they were putting one of these tower rides in, the subject of perspective would have never come up. I’m betting my money on a coaster of whatever sort.

This is a good point but where did anyone in-the-know use the term from a 'certain angle'? I have not seen that or heard the subject of perspective mentioned, except from those trying to validate (stretch) the ways it can still be a coaster.

Add that and Kevin’s “we redesigned the ride for a different location” and it paints less and less of a tower ride picture. These talking points are rarely associated with tower rides.

No one has spent hours transcribing the Board of Supervisors session. Instead of grilling random forum members and accusing them of "trying to validate (stretch) the ways it can still be a coaster," why don't you just watch the meeting? A bunch of people have already tried to relay what they gathered from it. If you don't believe those people, go to the source and form your own assessment—don't demand other people do it for you.

In my own defense, if I was quoting somebody or something specifically, I would have used quotes. They look like this “ “. Not this ‘ ‘. I would have also provided references.

Double quotes and single quotes mean the same thing. Depending on location, single or double are used more prevalently; but the meaning doesn't change.

Just stop. You are incorrect, and making others supporting your argument look more foolish.

Who died and made either of you king?

English is a very flexible language with many different grammatical paradigms. Quotes in particular can be used in many, many different ways. Ever heard of scare quotes? Those aren't direct quotations but it's a very common, well understood usage.

@MAZ never once claimed he was directly quoting anyone. You two are coming off like you're out for blood and I don't understand why at all. These are forum posts, not research papers. There is no formal style guide governing content here.

If either of you want to transcribe the meeting to accurately quote every line, be my guest. Use whatever quotation conventions you want. I don't care. Just don't randomly lash out at someone for presenting their own impressions of something in a format you wouldn't use yourself.

I literally just wrote about some of this shit last night.

I think some should check out this:

I see 0 reason for attacking anyone when the information is readily available to anyone. If your too time crunched, or too lazy to pull up the video and watch it yourself, stop attacking those that do. I’m all for disagreement and discussion, but snapping at people for not exact quotes from a video or because you want the statement made to not be true is getting out of hand.

I'm not out for anything I was just correcting an obvious error.

Quotes, whether single or double are reserved for referencing something not your own. https://www.grammarly.com/blog/quotation-marks/ It is @MAZ who appeared to be trying to say that double quotes meant something very different than single. Which is indeed, incorrect. Beyond that inaccuracy, I care little about the argument itself.

For some reason this reminds me of an experience from collage. We were reading a Norman Mailer book. And when we were finished we were lucky enough to have him guest co-teach the class. So we were talking about this one chapter, the professor asked about the symbology of the “crimson red and yellow sky”. Student went on a HUGE tangent about the human condition. Norman look right at him and said “the sky was crimson red and yellow because I was describing a fucking sunset”.

For some reason this discussion made me think of that.

It just doesn't matter at all.

If he had said ____ person said "words" and they actually said "not words," make an issue of it. He never once did that though. He used a relatively common convention to add meaning to his post that I think most everyone else here understands. You can personally believe it's wrong, but that is not even remotely relevant to the actual discussion.

Ultimately though, @Drachenwolf is the arsonist who lit this fire. @MAZ literally just came in and wanted to express his oponion. In turn, he was randomly attacked for not following some peoples' preferred style guideline. It's a really bad-fucking-look for ParkFans.
