General Information:

"Project Drachen Spire," is a community-generated identifier for the Intamin-made, multi-launch, shuttle giga coaster that was originally slated to open at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in 2021. The attraction is planned to utilize the currently-vacant land behind Verbolten, Festhaus Park—the former home of Drachen Fire.

The coaster's main layout—as leaked before the addition was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic—featured two launches, two spikes (one spiral, one vertical-ish), and a couple of banked turns. Drachen Spire was designed to run two trains by means of a pair of switch tracks connecting the primary, shuttle portion of the layout to the station platform.

It seems like the media attention came from the height waiver process and result, not from the park's marketing team. Thus now it'll be a huge PR issue to deal with.

Except that MMXX had a similar amount of excitement when the height waiver was filed under Madrid, but soon appeared to have dissipated without the park making any further mention of it publicly until this waiver process.

So if they just don't say anything like had been their MO for some time now, the excitement for FP will likely die down and more focus will be on MMXX.

Like how everyone (figuratively) thought MMXX was gonna be a giga in the coaster community, but nobody is really that upset about it because we are still getting something good?

Nothing is gonna bite them in the butt. The general public doesn't have a cats hooey clue what's going on, and people crazy enough to follow these projects this closely like we do understand how things change and progress.

I'm confused. Do y'all mean to imply that we know that Project 2021 isn't a giga?
To paraphrase the noted philosopher Sgt. Schultz - "We know nutting! Nutting!"

But, with the cat out of the bag, I suspect whenever they come forth with details of MMXX, we'll also get a tease of 2021 similar to the initial tease of MMXX.

I think the park is just trolling KM and JCCBS next year they ask for 375, year after that 400. Then after a few years of this when no one takes these request seriously and objects they spring their trap and request 1,000 everyone has used up all their righteous outrage and itpasses without objections and then BGW builds the tallest in the world.

I watched the meeting video last night. The Board of Supervisors cautioned Busch Gardens about future, taller height requests. They requested that the park work with corporate on future attractions that bring new features other than height.

Just for background info when the board was hearing the Madrid height waver they made similar comments about looking for non tall rides options. Given that Madrid was canceled its hard to know how serious they were about it but it is worth noting that this was not the first time these things have been said yet we did still get the waver.

My impression was that the guy who gave the speech about the height was speaking as the representative of KM. He may have a duty to convey their concerns, regardless of how he plans to vote and of what he really believes, himself. I didn't get the sense that anyone else on the Board felt the same way, regardless.

To be honest, after getting a giga (if they do get it) I don't see BGW going any higher with another coaster. I think looking past 2021 they will focus more on flats, smaller coasters, and themeing compared to big thrills now that the park will be on everyone's radar again.

Now Richmond's ABC station has copy and pasted the story. LOL.

I have appropriately plugged Parkfans here and also fixed the wrong think. I am sure everyone is now in agreement and there will be no more speculation.

Now what I want to know is which one of you is Jake Bolton... Because, and I think @UncleDuncan will agree with me here, he is a national treasure.
