General Information:

"Project Drachen Spire," is a community-generated identifier for the Intamin-made, multi-launch, shuttle giga coaster that was originally slated to open at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in 2021. The attraction is planned to utilize the currently-vacant land behind Verbolten, Festhaus Park—the former home of Drachen Fire.

The coaster's main layout—as leaked before the addition was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic—featured two launches, two spikes (one spiral, one vertical-ish), and a couple of banked turns. Drachen Spire was designed to run two trains by means of a pair of switch tracks connecting the primary, shuttle portion of the layout to the station platform.

The thing that makes anything seem possible to me is that 150 million dollar yearly capex budget. 2020 is a crazy year if investment across seas parks but is theoretically a slice of the new normal.

The biggest thing is just sitting and waiting. I know that a bunch of folks will want to theorize here and make wishful guesses. There’s nothing wrong with that at all and obviously some of the ideas will be more likely than others.

The big thing to remember is that the most likely outcome isn’t nessesarily the final outcome.

There’s nothing wrong with offering new ideas to the discussion and sharing your thoughts but I see no need to state things matter of factly or debate people into the ground over their ideas.

Just my 2 cents.

Think of the other models this could be:
GCI woodie - too soon to Invadr
B&M floorless/looper - what new does that add
Wing coaster - new for sure but not extremely popular
Blitz - that’s what bolt is
Raptor - RMC is reputedly backlogged on these
TRex - a reportedly a few years off
Mack Hyper - a third/fourth 200 foot drop?

That leaves few options:
Giga
RMC ground up hybrid
I'd also argue that MMXX is a blitz style coaster. So it would be really redundant to build them back to back. I wouldn't mind adding a Mack spinner but those are much more compact and would be better fit somewhere else.

The only reason for the argument is that there were people stating their opinions as fact.

Also I'd point out that in my opinion debating various ideas is a large portion of this threads purpose. It's here for us to discuss what the park potentially could be doing with the 355 ft height waiver and you can't discuss ideas without good natured debate. I will say that I agree that all debating should be good natured and not with the intent of degrading others.

Yup that’s all I was saying, debate is cool, dogpiling and arguing in circles etc...not so much.

Sometime you just gotta let people think what they will.

I also have to wonder about access to the site no matter what the ride is. If anything the site and entrance path has gotten even less appealing since it was an issue for drachen fire, with the big ugly verbolten show building right there.

I’m just unsure how they’d be able to pass this thing off as a spire. It’s that detail that’s keeping me from hopping fully on the Giga train

It's all a matter of perspective. If all kingsmill sees is a dead on look straight at the lift hill, then It looks like a spire.

Is that really how they'd describe the appearance to the board, and not just kingsmill residents though?

You have to realize that Kingsmill is the only area that's considered about the sightlines. The county doesn't care about anything that you can see along route 60 because you can already see a ton of coasters in those shots.

I’m at Kingsmill today for the LPGA event. When I’m back in position to take a picture, I’ll prove how absurd some of these claims about a Giga dominating would be.
