General Information:

"Project Drachen Spire," is a community-generated identifier for the Intamin-made, multi-launch, shuttle giga coaster that was originally slated to open at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in 2021. The attraction is planned to utilize the currently-vacant land behind Verbolten, Festhaus Park—the former home of Drachen Fire.

The coaster's main layout—as leaked before the addition was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic—featured two launches, two spikes (one spiral, one vertical-ish), and a couple of banked turns. Drachen Spire was designed to run two trains by means of a pair of switch tracks connecting the primary, shuttle portion of the layout to the station platform.

Thought I’d test this out - Fury’s lift looks much more like a “spire with lattice” than any of the Intamin lifts. Unless they went with the i305 arch lift

As a reference the closest house to Invadr/Train is ~700 ft away, and Alpengiest is ~1033 ft away. There also isn’t any sort of sound barrier (aside from a very small rise in the ground with a fence) between BGW and KM.

Aside from Alpengiest’s “roar” when it first opened, there hasn’t been any noise complaints that I’ve seen over the years from KM about BGW. With that being said, I seriously doubt 2021 would create enough noise to actually be an issue that BGW couldn’t easily solve.

Oh crap, talk about burying the lede:

I hung out for a while with a Kingsmill resident and KCSA "board"man (I don't know what you would call him TBH) about Project 2021. And he's one of the guys that's not all that against it. Some of the comments that he brought up did include my point (without prompting) that BGW can do as they please, he bought his house fully knowing the park was there. He added that the park being there actually increases his property value. He talked abut how things that go on within KSCA meetings make that JCCBOS meeting look tame.

I expressed how I felt the man they had read the letter of their concern played up some elements a little too much, and he did disagree with it some. He added that Kingsmill does tend to be more of a retirement aged community (although there are plenty of families) so there is a stress on keeping noises low, keeping things uniform. He expressed that KSCA's biggest disappointment was how quickly the BGW meeting with them and the JCC hearing was spaced and notified. He thinks if they gave more time to answer questions for residents, and were more open about Madrid being scrapped (at least the 315 tall part) and MMXX being 180 feet; residents would be more inclined to understand.

Honestly, they seem pretty typical to me. The residents who live in the neighborhood next to Georgetown were exactly the same.

I'll be honest, I have little experience with HOA's so I was a little shocked to hear him so blunt about certain other members.

Does KCSA have plans for the ride? How would they know how the ride would change the skyline?

KCSA most definitely does not have the plans. Instead they are just fearing what is, in their minds, a "worst case" scenario for the potential ride of this height in this location

They do not. But height waiver documents need to have a marking to give an idea of where the skyline would be effected (or is it affected? I never know)

Anything that creates noise is “worst case” to them. /s

Affected, in this instance

Simple. Just place a sign on the lift hill -

RESPECT YOUR NEIGHBORS
Kindly Refrain From Screaming
Or Yelling While On This Ride
Thank you!

For some reason that’s where I lost it. ?

Some really nice insights. Thanks for sharing.
I don't really agree on him about the timing of the meeting since we learned from the JCC meeting that the reason for the delay was that KCSA couldn't meet with them until the meeting they had. BGW said at the meeting that they contacted KCSA at a similar time frame that they normally do. Honestly they already get a lot more information from BGW than a lot of other parks would give. That said it is refreshing that at least someone on their board seems to have some sense of reason about this ride and the park.
