I was using a power factor between .8 and .9 rough guessing off the top of my head.

I forgot how we started talking about this in the first place and why it even matters at this rate

As fun as power is, I think the original topic was prompted by tree removal and why that's necessary. Electrical service is a big part of that and ride placement decisions. I agree with all of that.

As for the trees, I'm more than confident in the landscaping plans, whatever they are. The park will continue to maintain it's most beautiful designation. I also completely get @warfelg's points. Park landscaping and secondary conservation mission (secondary to profit) notwithstanding, the trees & willow aren't otherwise historic or in a wilderness area; and while the area can be home to any number of critters, again it's not an area designated for wildlife. We're essentially talking some trees next to a storm water management pond. Sure, egress to the James/Chesapeake and subject to RPA rules, but at the end of the day it is Grove Creek dammed up to form a man made body of water for aesthetics and storm water management purposes--despite being romanticized as "the Rhine River." I'm sure the park will avoid removing (for cost reasons if nothing else) as many trees as possible and then replant as many as needed for landscaping and wetlands impact mitigation reasons. BGW is far short of paving over everything to create more of a stereotypical "amusement park"--and the Finnegan tree impact is also far short of a line for me...

Dam it

Brewery Road Lake aka "the Rhine River"--a man made lake & storm water management facility formed by the damming of Grove Creek. But that's another topic.

Landscaping around said lake and Finnegan will be fine.

you might consider saying you are guessing instead of presenting your opinion as established fact.
I was guessing the power factor to be between .8 and .9 since thats all anyone here is doing. The calculations were done based off of the factual information in the previous posts. The only thing not specifically stated was the power factor. What I presented was not my "opinion" as you say it was a actual mathmatical calculation based on my knoledge of electrical systems. Do the math, if you use a power factor of .85 you get just under 600A.
Im not sure why I even try to contribute to this group, there are so many mechanical and electrical engineers here that seem to know it all. Enjoy the ride!

They definitely took out some beautiful, big old trees in that area. It looks like the removal of the trees now exposes the bridge to Ireland to the huge, bare strip of land that runs down the middle of the park (I think for a gas line?) That bare strip is one huge piece of weeded ugliness smack in the middle of the so-called "worlds most beautiful theme park." Now it appears that barren land will be even more visible.

What year did they clear that strip of land through the middle of the park. My first trip to Busch was the last year of Big Bad Wolf and I seem to remember noticing that ugliness somewhere in the last few years.

It was always meant to be kept clear over the pipeline but over the years Busch let it overgrow slightly and it wasnt as noticable. They had to clear it a few seasons ago now and since then it really stands out. Theres a number of reasons it needs to be kept clear and they are all valid.

The Colonial Pipeline clearing was recently enforced in 2016. You can read our article, explaining why it was necessary here.

Thank you for the information, I didn't realize the pipeline was already there. It definitely took some of the beauty of the park when that was done.
