I had such a good time catching VBolt during a soft opening early afternoon. A lined formed, didn't move, rumors swirled up and down the queue, people gave up and left so the line inched forward a bit, more rumors pulsed up and down the line, THEN additional employees approached and entered the ride area, excitement seized the group -- and patience was rewarded with a ride well in advance of the opening day.

Hoping to repeat the magic for InvadR.

Also the ACE media event is taking place the morning of the 7th, so the "first riders" will not be the people with the email anyway. :)

the "first riders" never are the first. the first usually are team members, followed by any soft openings. I doubt ACE will be the first riders either. This is basically just another way to get people excited and feel more special.

Everyone should know this. I just think it's silly the e-mail specifically said "be the first to ride"

Someone told me last weekend that the ride designers have already ridden the coaster.

The first riders are ALWAYS the ride designers and the subcontractors they hire to work on the project. In this case the people at GCI and companies, like Consign, who did the controls, and even the construction crews. I have a friend whose company poured the concrete footers for Alpengeist, Apollo's Chariot and Verbolten and he and his coworkers were riding these long before any team members stepped on.

Heavy work also ongoing in the turn after InvadR's final railroad crossing.

Any speculation as to why they are redoing these sections?
Like John mentioned, there was a lot of rattle in the POV. Also, you can see some pretty intense indentations/markings from the train's wheels already on the track they're replacing that isn't visible on the rest of the ride circuit.

I was thinking it was just an error when it wouldn't let me RSVP for the opening ceremony but guess I should have just checked my e-mail more frequently.

Stupid question. Like, really. But can I ask... what happens if there's a termite situation? Is that a thing? I'm not familiar with them but in cartoons they look pretty serious.

I'm legit asking, too. Would that be a real threat to a ride like this? Do they have to spray for bugs a lot or what?

And I'm asking because even though I've been riding coasters all my life I still get on one and wonder "is today the day something horrible happens?" And I'm not going to exclude termites from that phobia. That would be discrimination. Also I hate bugs.
