RE: Project 2017

Tempesto is exactly what made me consider this a possibility. SWP&E said that BGW an SWO will just be adding filler attractions, and improve their existing lineup. This would seem to go along those lines, but so would a spinner in my opinion.

Edit: While I do think this is unique, I still think it's too small for Busch Gardens Williamsburg.

RE: Project 2017

The capacity is a huge concern. I wouldn't rule something similar out. Esp with gwazi sbno down in fl.

Anyone have any thoughts on a possible future height waiver?

Given the size of the layout i could see it going up to 100ft A.G.

Ps. I might try to cook up an rmc concept, as well as a mack spinner this weekend. If there's interest i can make a thread and take suggestions.

I might have missed it, but how do we know it costs 17.5 million?
Its in the first video but I may have just misheard it because I went back and listened and it sounded like 17 project so don't worry about it

RE: Project 2017

Just the city council needs to approve. The process includes public hearings and normally KM residents will go and whine about how their back yard lools like a boneyard and everyone else talks about the business and tourism that it brings the area. The park has always won out in the hearings.

iirc, and i might need zach to confirm, when griffon was built the coaster was announced before they got the waiver. A big reason the coaster is blue was that that was a stipulation the park included in it's proposal to help ensure approval.

The point of all this is that the coaster doesn't not NEED to be below 60' A.G. Going forward the park still needs to file for the coaster construction, as it isn't included in the site plans. Should the coaster be higher than 60' that is when the height waiver process would apply.

RE: Project 2017

There has been a 150 foot tall coaster in the back of the park before. If BG wanted another, I'm sure they would make it happen.

That process would also require a balloon test so far the only one that we know of was last year and it was under 100 feet.

the park applied for the height waiver in january 2006, and it was (as far as i can tell) approved on 11 april 2006. griffon was announced august 2006.

there is no history of any coaster having a height waiver submitted this late in the process (only Mach Tower was later, in April), nor is there any history of detailed plans being submitted and then a later height waiver being applied to override them. sorry kids, keep dreamin.

I'll just put this here.

RE: Project 2017

As much as I would love these RMC concepts, I don't want to see any more high hopes ideas until the official Mack Rides spinner animation which we are all but confirmed by the park to get. 60 feet, a drop into a ravine, 50ish mph, New France theme.

Case closed IMO. Excitement level 6.1/10.

RE: Project 2017

I would be very interested to see that RMC Mini-Woodie installed, but I don't see it happening. Plans don't show the correct clearing, Woodie is higher than 60ft, etc. I'll just keep my expectations on a Mack Spinner.

RE: Project 2017

I really want a big coaster this year but I just don't think it will happen...but I still have high hopes because why would they be building one when they don't even know if its going to be successful? I would love to see the first RMC T-rex but I just don't think it's going to happen:(

If you go to Bolliger & Mabillards new website and click wing coaster they have some videos of they're wing coasters and there is this one at a park named gardaland and it's a very short coaster with maybe a 90 or 85 degree drop and it looks awesome p.s. there new website is gorgeous

I was way wrong its 108 ft drop 90 mph and has a 65 degree drop the video made it look way different.

I looked at macks website and...turns out there is actually a coaster manufactured by mack somewhere in europe called le spin so its going to be a different name becasue chances are that name is copyrighted

A B&M wing coaster shouldn't even be discussed in this thread. Those trains are wide as hell and in no way would clear the trench in the blueprints.

RE: Project 2017

Anyone interested in another concept coaster? This one took a lot longer than I had planned. But I added mock ups of the train station and a rough mock up of the flume. I should note that both of these coasters are built over the google terrain data for the area, so the topography is pretty accurate.

RE: Project 2017

I did some research and theoretically they could be getting a eurofighter very unlikely just figured I should put it out there because they are very compact and a max height of 75' so it's a possibility but who knows just putting it out there.

RE: Project 2017

Gerstlauer used to build a wide variety of Eurofighter layouts- many of which were well above 75 feet and not very compact. That said, Gerstlauer no longer makes Eurofighters. They have moved on to their new Infinity Coaster product.

And we can't talk about Gerstlauer right now without talking about Smiler. I'm pretty sure the failure of that coaster is going to keep Gerstlauer out of any notable chain park for a while. Because of Smiler alone, if Busch Gardens wanted to build something in the vein of a Eurofighter, I think we'd be looking at another Zierer project similar to Impulse at Knoebels.

All that said, I think the possibility that it's any of these things is remarkably slim.
