Worse, they created i305, which had to be re-tracked after they had tried a braking section on first drop a year after its inception to reduce unpleasantly high G's. They were in-part, responsible for the incorrect launch geometry that snapped the test-dummies heads off on Volcano at KD during testing in 1998. They ruined the scheduled opening and reliability of Falcons Fury at BGT. Maverick at Cedar Point was somewhat of an operational fiasco in it its first year from a technical standpoint. All of these oversights cost the parks unforeseen sums of money.

The list continues of Intamin's failures that preclude Mr. Giles from signing off on any of their future installations at BGW, coaster-related marital burdens aside.

Not to mention the (relatively) long list of injuries and deaths, some of which were quite possibly due to the manufacturer. But that all is a discussion for another thread.

Ah yes, Xcelerator.

This project could be many things, an Intamin is not likely to be one of them.

Oh my God. I just can't. This is too much.

Just for the record Gmoney, since you are new here. BGW will never ever get an Intamin product while Larry Giles works for the park. It's never going to happen. That's why Mach Tower was built buy a random no name company.

Did Intamin like sleep with Larry Giles wife or something?

Yeah I was being sarcastic at first but holy shit about Volcano. I'm glad BGW is concerned so much about their guests safety.. I remembered the I305 stuff very clearly and even some recent Volcano issues but I have never heard about the Volcano test dummies.. Any links to that info?

I'll PM you! :)

Back to 2017, there should be a new teaser video soon...

RE: Project 2017

I had no idea B&M makes a family coaster described as "above or below the track." Has anyone seen this before? In the off chance we did get a custom version, I doubt it'd be inverted like Alpie, but I'd be interested to see the non-inverted configuration. Also their new website is gorgeous.

Have never seen anything like that!.. I feel like a coaster of those proportions would fit very well in the allocated area for the new ride.

I strongly doubt it is a launched coaster. What I mean by this are two things, niether of which are huge revelations, but that help narrow down possibilities:

1. There will be two lifts that are under 60ft

2.The attraction will stand at >60ft

A launch coaster is still possible but very unlikely. There is the slight chance that there will an elevator lift mid course, but I don't find that to be realistic.

While I'm at it let me squash this launch coaster rumor, or at least shed some doubt. In order for a launch to work, it would have to be something like the incredible hulk's launch. The track NEEDS to go under the flume first, then angle up to pass over the other side of the flume and the railroad. All of this is happening over the queue too. The current layout just wouldn't diversify busch's collection much as a launch coaster.

There really isn't enough track to justify two lifts. The layout is just too short, and there isn't really any place in the layout for it. I think we can rule out a second lift.

As for the max height; not only do the plans specify attraction height at 60ft, but the balloon test they did was also estimated to be a max 60ft (as per http://bgwfans.com/2014/line-of-sight-test/)

Speaking of the balloon test, no one has pointed out that the test occurred in the southern most tip of the project area. Could one conclude that this is where the highest point of the attraction would be? Now, a lift would not climax at the other end of the layout from the station, and certainly not a 60 ft lift. Talk about a boring ride!

Now, a launch coaster..... that can certainly have its max height far from the station. As for the problems you suggest with the layout for a launch coaster; what if the coaster runs in the reverse direction you have it? It could come out of the station going south, make a sharp turn left, and then launch parallel to the RR track, and out of the launch, a sharp left hugging Le Scoot. Then, on the way back to the station, it could have it's final hills match the RR, queue, and flume as needed, before returning to the station.

a launch track that's like 60 feet long? lulz. that would be like the silly little first launch on cheetah hunt. even the pony express launch track at knotts is twice as long as that! you guys are trying real hard to fit a square peg in a round hole

He means the long straight portion after the curves.

Still, something like manta @ SD is too similar to verbolten. I'm saying double lift spinner of flyer for now.

As far as the whole momentum thing, That's what I found from testing in NoLimits. Worth noting that CC has two lifts and is about the same length.

No. Trying to list all possibilities. My post is a direct response to assertion that single 60 ft lift isn't sufficient for length of track and heights needed to clear RR, queue, and flume. If that is true, then launch is the only possibility, given can't have 2 lifts, and can't have lift > 60 ft.

RE: Project 2017

Remember those unreadable pages in the park's version of their 2017 site plans?

Lets remedy that.

Below you will find two incredibly large Project 2017 site plans that lack Busch Gardens Williamsburg's watermark entirely. The first page contains the site plan for the entire project. The second is the incredibly detailed "Layout and Materials Plan" for the station-area of the new attraction. All of the text in both documents should be completely legible. This is especially important for the materials plan as it gives us a lot of new information for what the area will look like come 2017. Enjoy the plans!

RE: Project 2017

Yes, that exactly.

Pusheen will be in a lumberjack uniform holding a bottle of maple syrup and a chainsaw while sitting atop a giant moose. Every time one of the Zamboni-themed cars pass by, Pusheen's moose will say "Excuse me, sorry, eh?" The theming surrounding the coaster will include a closed Target store. The entry area will continuously play Céline Dion's, Avril Lavigne's, and Justin Bieber's greatest hits. The ride will be sponsored entirely by Tim Hortons© and free Tim Hortons© coffee will be available at the entrance. The opening ceremony will feature star players from all of the country's hockey and curling teams.

Called it!

RE: Project 2017

I don't think the station building is large enough for a flying coaster, so maybe that should be thrown out. It has to be small scale, compare the station building size to the size of the waiting area at the train station, about the same, eh? We can kind of rule out MOST ride types for this, and unless the second building has a queue area underneath (which it would have to in order to support a large scale ride) we won't be getting one.

Spinner.

RE: Project 2017

I don't think a flyer is feasible seeing these plans close up. B&M's need a large space for a train house and MTX area, which is not depicted here, and the SQ footage of "Building 10" is about as large as Griffon's train house adjacent the brake run, which is fine for smaller trains, not larger ones (if building 10 is a car house or part of a station brake run). I am enthused and befuddled, but the closeups here are excellent for visualization of this ride and the aspects that are simply human factors, signage, and scenery.

If you could point out on the plans where a second lift would fit, I'd agree that 2 lifts are more likely than a launch. And, not just in terms of physically locating it, but also enough elements after each lift to make it worth it.

And, I don't think 60ft is high enough for a flyer. That would be a hovercraft, not a flyer.

RE: Project 2017

Lift 2 could fit here. Just a wee 40ft lift would do.

And as far as the flying coaster's station, superman ultimate flight at SFGAdv has a very small station area. the given size of the station is quite large enough to accommodate. It is actually long enough to fit a 7 car flyer train.

I'm most interested in the B1-B9 markers. 30'? what do you all think those are?
