RE: Project 2017

Just to play devil's advocate here on this not being a spinner. Galactica, formerly AIR at Alton Towers in England is 66ft tall and has a relatively small layout that would 100% fit into the area we are looking at. The flying canoe theme would obviously work well if you read the story details carefully. Not to mention it's a B&M, uses terrain heavily, not overly dramatic for younger age groups, and would be the first flyer in VA. I may be crazy, but look at the possibilities here and let me know your thoughts! Just an extra idea for the sake of options.

RE: Project 2017

That's a good find Gavin. The real question at this point is the height of the attraction. We know they need to file permits for the coaster itself still. So all that's left to guess at is whether that will include a height waiver as well. It's important to note that 60 feet above grade will only get you about 55 feet of lift height.

I personally think that this whole 60ft thing has become a big red herring in this thread.

Yea I know my theory was abit of but it would be cool to see intamin come back with a woodie. If you haven't seen what buschdominion posted on its website its clearly different than what has been shown in this blueprint people have blasted. Check out buschdominion.com and click the thing on the homepage about location of the new ride it will explain in much better detail. I would pray on behalf of everybody here to the intamin gods...... Oh dear intamin gods please do not fail me again!

As the co-manager of buschdominion.com, I am very curious as to where you found this information on our website. As far as I am aware, we made no indication of the 2017 attraction being a wooden coaster or being manufactured by Intamin. Furthermore, I can assure that the plans displayed on our website are no different from those featured here on the Forum.

If you could tell me where you found this info on our website, your help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Forum.
I wasn't stating or saying that they would put an Intamin woodie. I already know they never will. It just gets abit annoying that they have nothing similar to what an intamin would make. To clarify what i stated about blueprints I was mentioning the layout. The intamin coaster was just an idea that shall be sent to icloud and never be received. I was noting that the layout very much looked that of a spread out launch coaster. Sorry about the mislead

Just for the record Gmoney, since you are new here. BGW will never ever get an Intamin product while Larry Giles works for the park. It's never going to happen. That's why Mach Tower was built buy a random no name company.
I understand that, its quite obvious that intamin will never be a factor at the park. I was just dreaming....

RE: Project 2017

My current bet is on a ride like Manta at SW San Diego. It's a Mack ride, 30ft tall, and double launching.

RE: Project 2017

I actually like that idea David! Its a solid ride tbh. Understanding that its only 35' and is that great only imagine what 55' would do. MACK HAS SHINED US LIGHT(I guess it wouldn't be the first Mack ride wed like to see but, its better than a spinner

I might be dyslexic or something but when I see your name I somehow see "GNOMESEVERYWHERE".

So are we all fairly certain that this new project is indeed a coaster? Not some other type of ride or attraction?

It's not about the clearance over the train as much as it is momentum from a lift under 60ft is not enough to get the ride through the complete layout.

the length of track unagi posted would be around 2000-2100 feet. a 60' lift is plenty to get through that.

To all: Anybody think of a possible boomerang of some sort? Vekoma has a family boomerang that can be custom? Understanding Vekoma hasn't taken part in anything that SeaWorld has done(that I know of). It would be the first boomerang in Virginia and could be themed to the Vikings that discovered Canada? Also, has anybody thought about something along the lines of firechaser express? Both could very well stay under the height limit? I said firechaser express because it is fairly compact, using its several launches and possible lift chain could easily make a long lasting ride. Both would be cool going threw the tunnel...

The Busch Gardens Marketing Team is watching this thread right now, and they're satisfied with a job well done.

Well that, and they're laughing hysterically at all of us, but you get the point.

A job well done by marketing, yes kudos. Anything would be an improvement over Tempesto's handling though (just saying). However, an overall job well done is reserved for successful 2017 results.

RE: Project 2017

I think you missed the point of my statement, which is this: Within a week and 2 released videos, the marketing team has caused an absolute frenzy among fans of the park and coaster enthusiasts alike. Seems to be (so far) a job very well done.

Did Intamin like sleep with Larry Giles wife or something?

Worse, they created i305, which had to be re-tracked after they had tried a braking section on first drop a year after its inception to reduce unpleasantly high G's. They were in-part, responsible for the incorrect launch geometry that snapped the test-dummies heads off on Volcano at KD during testing in 1998. They ruined the scheduled opening and reliability of Falcons Fury at BGT. Maverick at Cedar Point was somewhat of an operational fiasco in its first year from a technical standpoint. All of these oversights cost the parks unforeseen sums of money.

The list continues of Intamin's failures that preclude Mr. Giles from signing off on any of their future installations at BGW, coaster-related marital burdens aside.
