If this is an exact clone of Cobra's Curse, I will legally change my name to Nancy.

You know, now I kind of want this to be an exact clone of Cobra's Curse.

Here you go everyone! The definitive Busch Gardens Williamsburg Project 2017 civil site plans article is now live, here. There's a lot of great content in there in my honest opinion. Hopefully you'll find it to be well worth your time. :) Enjoy the post and, if you all don't mind, retweet, like, comment on, and/or share the article on social media or however else you see fit!

Great write up.

What interests me is the Que under and into LeScoot. Should provide some nice and new photo ops of the surrounding areas, LeScoot and Alpengeist even to some extent.

The whole project opens up some previously locked away areas of the park that I haven't seen since my teen years while my older brother was at William and Mary and even earlier than that when we would visit.

Will be nice to see some of those spots again as they are definitely A distant memory.

Well I guess I'm convinced now, but I am still shocked at the fact that this thing will criss cross and meander around the train tracks. That thing will be shut down all summer with all the action going on around it. Great report Zachary! Hey, does anyone remember the height requirement of the wild mouse that used to be across the way? I'm thinking this new smaller coaster may be attractive to those who would have liked the wild mouse.

The construction should have a minimal impact with the railroad. In fact in tampa the best place to get pictures of the site is on the train.

Hey guys, does anyone think it could be a VR coaster?

So this is an interesting thought. BGW has been willing to experiment with new ride tech in the past and this would fall under that. Right now it looks like all VR coasters have been add ons to existing coasters, so one with VR built in would certainly interesting.

If this is a Mack Spinner, I would be curious if the tech would be capable of matching the variable movement, since most coasters don't have this, it would be simpler to pull off.

I like the idea on paper, but current VR tech for gaming is still very new and has lots of problems. The main one being motion sickness. If the images displayed aren't properly aligned with the motion at a specific frame rate, it causes motion sickness easily. If you factor in the forces from a normal coaster, it could cause some problems and if this is a spinner then a lot of work would have to be done on a daily basis to make sure everything is synced up perfectly or you will have a lot of sick people.

It won't happen on a spinner. Minute differences in the weight of the car with throw the spin off, this would be neigh impossible to calculate on the fly unless sensors are tracking the rotation of the car.

I think any other coaster would benefit from VR in this park. Nessie could take us to a dark gloomy Scottish ravine, Apollo wcould fly us through the clouds, Griffon could, be a griffon and drop you, Alpengeist could be a ski trip in the vein of DarKastle where you are being followed.

Would be interesting.

That looks pretty spot on Unagi! She's certainly a wee bit on the 'pip squeek' end of the coaster spectrum. I'd say we have our tweener coaster after all! I hope the ride height is low so my daughter can ride. She'll be around 44" when this puppy opens.

Are you assuming building #2 is an elevator or launch? I don't think there's a place for a lift otherwise.  But, if you make a couple of changes, I think there's a spot for a lift.

RE: Project 2017

I've done quite a bit of looking into it and it just so happens that the underpass occurs at the lowest point in the terrain, about a 20 foot difference from the ground on the far side of the tracks. so we are looking at a boost of ~40 feet from the use of terrain and tunnels. One thing that really has been bothering me is the fact that the layout here is much shorter than that of CC. I can't say what it is for sure, but I have a couple of good theories that I'm holding onto ATM. Also, I have good reason to believe this coaster will be no shorter than 100 feet, I'm biting my tongue though until I'm sure of it.

RE: Project 2017

This post is half sarcasm. I believe it was mentioned a few pages back.. But what if this project is a distraction for the "big coaster" being built behind the Festhaus? ;-D 2 coasters in one year!

Although, as more and more info comes out, this is beginning to point in the direction of a coaster similar to CC. This honestly wasn't the ride I was hoping for, but it would be a great addition to BGW. I just feel BG is due for a "real roller coaster!" By that I mean AC, which opened almost 18 years ago.

There is no elevator or launch in the layout I posted. The lift is already there.

RE: Project 2017

the larger building is the maintenance building and the smaller is the queue/station most likely. Assuming this setup we can put the track going through the building off center with room for a second train and maintenance bay in the large building and queue lines on the smaller building. Due to the terrain it only makes sense for the station to launch away from the railroad, into the (lift). There is almost certainly no elevator. With verbolten's drop track(I know it's very different but it's the same concept) it's not really a big feature that they could advertise.

Where? Do you have the coaster going "up" on the layout leaving the station, or coming out of building 2?

So you are saying the lift is right over the queue?

RE: Project 2017

After seeing Unagi's layout sketch, I'm coming around more to the idea of a spinner. I suppose I'm just a little disappointed that they're marketing it as a huge project if this is actuallly all that is happening. Time will tell!
