RE: Project 2017
Admittedly I might have missed something -- but to me, the tone of the marketing materials we have seen so far is not especially unique to a really big project.
A handful of folks in the front office sit at a table reviewing plans; one guy pulls a modest set of drawings off the plotter; they all try to keep the pesky marketing guy away from their secret intentions. It's all very inside-baseball, due of course to previous info leaks... but perhaps also as a means to craft an effective campaign around a ride system that is not particularly amazing on its own merits. There is zero whiff of the ominous big-monster-legend that often accompanies BGW's larger rides. It's 100% personality driven so far, on a completely human scale.
I guess one might say "Yeah, that's what they WANT you to believe." But I think it's just what it appears to (...probably...) be: a modest but entertaining ride system that refreshes a corner of the park's guest-accessible footprint, provides sizable draw in an area of the park where it is certainly needed, fills out the park's offerings for a key target demographic, and safely lends itself to a whimsical PR scheme. The internal consistency seems awfully high, for a mere feint.
Shrug.
