RE: Project 2017

Admittedly I might have missed something -- but to me, the tone of the marketing materials we have seen so far is not especially unique to a really big project.

A handful of folks in the front office sit at a table reviewing plans; one guy pulls a modest set of drawings off the plotter; they all try to keep the pesky marketing guy away from their secret intentions.  It's all very inside-baseball, due of course to previous info leaks... but perhaps also as a means to craft an effective campaign around a ride system that is not particularly amazing on its own merits.  There is zero whiff of the ominous big-monster-legend that often accompanies BGW's larger rides.  It's 100% personality driven so far, on a completely human scale.

I guess one might say "Yeah, that's what they WANT you to believe."  But I think it's just what it appears to (...probably...) be: a modest but entertaining ride system that refreshes a corner of the park's guest-accessible footprint, provides sizable draw in an area of the park where it is certainly needed, fills out the park's offerings for a key target demographic, and safely lends itself to a whimsical PR scheme. The internal consistency seems awfully high, for a mere feint.

Shrug.

RE: Project 2017

Though now I am completely confused I took the time and thought about the whole situation. I find the images to be a complete bust. Though possible, I don't see why buschgardens is advertising this early for a 2017 coaster and it only being 70' or whatever it was. The ride blueprint that was shared didn't make sense to me either. I'm not an expert by any means but dosnt the blueprint itself look like a log flume type of ride? By any means it didn't look like a rollercoaster. People da it could be a spinning coaster, all jokes aside. With that layout in almost positive you wouldn't be spinning much. Those who believe Buschgardens needs a wooden rollercoaster may be in some hope but I have two theories. 1. The wooden coaster. Busch Gardens has yet to EVER have a wooden coaster in they're linup. I fell that these past few years at buschgardens resembles much of the mid-late 90s of Busch gardens history where they truly established themselves. Adding record breaking coasters, vast park improvements, and just pure charm. Understanding that we have yet to see any close to record braking coasters they have do e a good job adding rides that were well needed. Taking a look, Verbolten is the family ride, and tempesto is the mild thrill coaster. I think its time for the big one. RMC has been rumored to be talking to the SeaWorld company. Sea world Orlando didn't get one so then who's it going to?(assuming Sea World will stop neglecting wooden rides) I'm ganna guess......BG! Truly there isn't an RMC close at all really to any park close to Virginia(HOT ROD is about 10.5 hours from BG). RMC is likely my best observation. BG dosnt want or "can't have" a woodie due to the fact they are much to loud. RMC is much quieter, and Dollywood(Amusement park I feel that SeaWorld gas a great relationship with) may have peered influence on Busch Gardens by there soon to be top 10 wooden roller coasters in the world. Maybe Busch Gardens may try to squad up to Dollywood and make there first woodie THE BEST WOODIE? Would be cool to find out to. 2. This is bit of a weird idea but I found it to be really possible when it came to it. Intamin has been sleeping for a few years due to "ride malfunctions and reliability". As others have said, Cheetah Hunt is one of the best coasters in BGT, and from what I understand(correct me if I'm wrong)Hasn't had any reliability problems. I see Intamin as an option because Intamon delivers much different ride to the park. BG dosnt have a really "intense" ride, which is why I ruled out B&M, there rides aren't what would be called "intense". I'm not saying a intimiminator 305 or anything but something that will be well invested in to bring the thrill junkies in as well. What type of coaster? I don't see a launch coaster anytime soon so we have 3 options(the 3 being in order from 1-3 on what I could see happening) An intamin woodie, low to the ground hyper coaster, Intamin suspended with chain lift. Yes I know, Your thinking BG wouldn't put an intamin here. But why? They don't have a bad relationship with them? Wanna know why. They have nothing from them(excluding mach). The reason of intamin is much different than just(they don't have one) I don't think BG really wants Intamin but I do think Intamin DOES want BG. Intamin needs there rep back, and a greatly themed intamin coaster would do wonders

RE: Project 2017

But the park NEVER advertises or markets anything this early. You could argue Tempesto is "more extreme" than CC will be, and its advertising was the coaster being built. The fact that they beat Zach to it, screams, atleast in my mind something more major than a spinner.

RE: Project 2017

This coaster might be bigger than what's being shown. The layouts suspected by other users follow the contour of the places to be cleared. Zoom in on the left side of the site plans. There is an extra lip to be cleared to the far left that could lead off to more track...

lol. You might want to look at google maps. About five feet to the left of that area is a service road and then about 10 backstage buildings. I think they would need to mention to JCC if they were going over there. but keep dreamin!

Intamin talk with B&M reenactment

I:we need money, the U.S. Dosnt like us no more! BG:We don't hate you we just think B&M is for us. (Its not BG! Its not!"sorry my point of view") I: Look at any park that has a ride from us! They are crowd pleasures! They win awards! They make parks money! BG: We don't like skyscrapers! I: We don't just build skyscrapers! We build many things! Anything! BG: Ok, 3 questions. I:Go ahead BG: What do yall have that B&M dosnt? I: Awards BG:What do you think we need to add in our park? What makes it a good investment? I: We understand that you have never had a wooden rollercoaster before? BG:sure havnt but we've been thinking about it I:Well guess who can make a grew wooden rollercoaster? BG: RMC?GCI?PHILLIDELPHIA? I: No we do, and we want to build one in your park! BG: But we like B&M I:is B&M going to build you a woodie??? They don't have any! BG:well....good point! I:Exactly, we are desperate to get back out in the coaster game and would like to be partners! BG:Great! What's the ride called and how should we tease it? Where shall it go? I:project 2017, name is el maditor and shall be the highlight ride in ur new section section Mexico you cleared all that land for! BG:eek:k,but we will need you to theme the ride, and you never said how the ride was going to go. I:we shall build it 60' tall and drop it down a hill for a total of 120 ft at 70mph. Track will stay low to the ground for max intensity and will have small but crazy ejector airtime hills. Ride will feature a by pass of the station and will include 3 overbanked turns. We are desperate to show that we are the best so el maditor will have the best themeing in the park! BG: Good job son, I expect to see you in Tampa as soon as you finish here!

The park started teasing Verbolten in 2010...

Here's a concept for a flying coaster. It fits the space, would avoid the log flume and railroad, and would offer something new and exciting. The lift stands about 100ft above grade, but the drop is about 140ft. I probably put too many blocks in but it does fit the plans. I'm not saying that this what it is. I was mainly testing to see if it was possible to fit a flyer in that footprint. Whether the park did that or not is a much larger question.

^Wasn't that because it was a 2 year plan involving the overall expansion of Oktoberfest, which happened to include Mach Tower and Verbolten?

This might be a two year plan also... but not involving another new ride, but the (temporary) closure of Le Scoot and train.

If this is a spinning coaster, and the layouts above are correct, then I would not consider it to be a sister of CC:
1. Overall length like half as long (eye balling it, not measured)
2. One lift here, lift and an elevator on CC
3. CC goes forwards, backwards, and then freespin. This one may start forwards and then release to spin, I don't think there's a place for it to turn you 180 degrees (I'm guessing CC does on the breaks before the chain lift).

Not saying it will be a bad ride, I'll wait to hold judgement until actually riding it. Just that it doesn't seem to be on the same level as CC.

RE: Project 2017

Yea I know my theory was abit of but it would be cool to see intamin come back with a woodie. If you haven't seen what buschdominion posted on its website its clearly different than what has been shown in this blueprint people have blasted. Check out buschdominion.com and click the thing on the homepage about location of the new ride it will explain in much better detail. I would pray on behalf of everybody here to the intamin gods...... Oh dear intamin gods please do not fail me again!

To Busch Gardens- I'm sure you are reading everything that we are saying right now and are likely laughing your tempastas off but I do promise you, if you build a spinning coaster It will be the second year in a row I haven't visited your park. -pass holder for 7 str8 till you started to choke

Wow, this would be great. Amazing job with this!

Too bad they listed the attraction as 60' above grade. Otherwise I would bet you were close to the real deal.

The 60ft is only for what they filed for so far. The coaster might very well be taller. Note the lift I have. How would you get a lift that:
1. fits the plans
2. is under 60 feet
3. avoids the train and the flume

I can see how you can make that much shorter. Perhaps I'll add the flume in a bit to demonstrate.
