RE: Project 2017

Just my personal opinion. For BG to market a new ride this early, and hype it up to be a family coaster doesn't make any sense. Why plan for a sister of CC if it has yet to prove its popular among guests? It seems like they would wait a couple years and see how it is at Tampa first. I feel this will be more on the extreme side.

As for Verbolten, I would definitely consider that a kid/family roller coaster. It's fun, but it doesn't give me that adrenaline rush like bigger roller coasters do. FoF is an extreme launch coaster, Verbolten is not.

I was JUST about to say all of this, but you nailed it. This can't be hype for a Verbolten "lite" ahead of CC not even being opened and received by the public to any degree. A marketing campaign like this is special, and I think the ride will match the 1 year in advance hype.

This is not a spinning coaster.
This is not a family coaster.
Verbolten is a "fringe" family coaster, thrilling enough but not overly intense for a wide age group.
We also have Grover's Alpine Adventure, which still counts believe it or not as much as we forget about it.
This appears to be a full-course thrill with children likely not in mind.  Cobra's Curse will remain the only spinning coaster for Busch parks for quite some time.

If I am wrong, I shall change my avatar to "EiTA Is the Best Ever"

Honestly, I am not trying to be rude, I am truly curious. Do you have and hard data or inside intel to backup these statements?

I would rather see an adult coaster, preferably something over 200' with a straight drop, but I also see the need for a more family oriented ride. I have no real opinion of spinners, having never ridden them, but I can see the appeal.

To be completely honest, I'm not completely sold on this ride being a spinner. Sure, it's a possibility, but there are definitely others. In fact, after studying the possible layout(s) from what the park showed in their clearing plans, it almost seems somewhat doubtful. I don't see much room for helices, nor does it look extremely curvy.

+1 for this. Pay attention to the layout folks!!

This was more an assured prediction based on the plans and info we have. I believe logic dictates that hyping a project this far in advance is not for the sake of a Mack, Zamperla, Zierer etc. family coaster we already received in 2012 at the cost of $50 Million. Tempesto was a decent flat ride/coaster "holdover" if you will - so that a more comprehensive project could be planned and implemented, which is what I believe is behind these super-early, unprecedentedly great marketing stunts that Busch has never done before.

I believe we are in for something somewhat substantial. Marketing especially in advance like this, costs money. I know we are fans of a park that does not manage finances in the best manner, however as many have said, there's no real reason to market a family coaster in this style of online teasers. Parks usually spend money on hype this far in advance on something that either breaks a record, has a "first" or improves on a concept. Unless, of course, we are getting a family coaster with Oculus Rift goggles ;-D

RE: Project 2017

Maybe a flying coaster based on the layout size and orientation (look at SFGAdv Superman)but I strongly doubt it. The layout is just so small and tight I cant see it being much other than a spinner. Even so the layout is much shorter here than it is in Tampa, based of what we see. So perhaps we will have to wait to see.

RE: Project 2017

Though there is not much evidence saying this ride will specifically be a spinner, I certainly don't think it will be a large-scale coaster like everyone is hoping.

First of all, given the proximity of the start of the ride to the train station and the log flume being over top of the start, a traditional lift hill wouldn't seem to fit. The lift would have to stay low enough to not interfere with the log flume, but high enough to stay far above the train tracks once it cleared the flume.

On top of that, the height restrictions wouldn't allow for anything that is very tall. With the site being extremely close to Kingsmill (arguably one of the closest remaining spots in the park), the residents of Kingsmill would put up a huge fight if anything "obstructed their view." Additionally, a height waiver would have to be granted to the park for anything over 60' in height above finished grade.

Finally, the assumed layout of the ride seems way too short and the curves too tight to be anything very fast. At best I'd say the ride might have a similar feel as Verbolten's indoor portion in some parts.

RE: Project 2017

I am simply not convinced that this 'guessed' location is correct. In fact, I don't think the park would build anything this close to the railway. Let alone 'zig zag' across it. 'I' think BGW has just successfully thrown everybody off here.(except Zachary :) who has not officially predicted this location)

The thing is that it isn't really a 'guessed' location anymore. The plans clearly show the area in question. Also, I would certainly think these plans are not fake, cause it would have been a waste of money for the park to develop fake plans just for marketing purposes.

RE: Project 2017

It's not a waste of money for any of these BGW guys to stop at the store for a six pack and enjoy it at home with some good music on while having fun on their computer making shit up. This would cost the park zero dollars. Just saying, I'm still not convinced. This doesn't say that I'm ruling it out. Just that it's far fetched and we already knew about building upgrades in this area of the park which means there ARE new park plans readily available to be 'messed' with. I'll be convinced when I see Zachary's official prediction.

RE: Project 2017

I don't understand the assumption that only a mega coaster would be hyped. Any new attraction that is predicted to be able to bring in the masses should be hyped, whether it be a mega coaster, family coaster, or flat.

And, as was pointed out, BGT hyped CC well in advance because of the need to close the RR. Same applies here.

Big question: anyone have an overhead of CC's footprint to compare with where we know the ride will be? Especially interested in CC's station and elevator in relation to the rest of the track.

There's this. I don't think it shows everything, but it's good enough.

RE: Project 2017

Since people are talking about the new coaster possibly being a sister attraction to Cobra's Curse at BGT, here is what BGTBuzz has provided us on it.

I'd like to be clear that I wasn't saying this will not be a spinner, it is definitely a strong possibility. But the only proof that we have that may point in that direction is the height. I believe everyone is mistaken in thinking the other building is an elevator lift for two reasons; The first being the building's extremely close proximity to Le Scoot, I cannot see an elevator lift going right next to Le Scoot's flume. And the second being the height restriction for that building being clearly marked as 23', so unless the park plans on having a 23 foot elevator lift in that location, it's unrealistic.

Considering an elevator lift would most likely be marked on these types of plans as it is a building structure, I believe it highly unlikely that this ride, whether or not it is a spinner will have an elevator lift regardless.
