RE: Project 2016

I believe the people who think the park desperately needs a coaster fail to remember the park received not 1, not 2, but FIVE roller coasters in 10 years from 2001 - 2010 and NINE within 17 years (1994-2010). I'm not sure if there is another park in the world that can say that. Not only that, but the last coaster additions of Dominator and Intimidator 305 (two of the biggest coasters in the park) were installed two seasons apart.

The park established a superb coaster collection and can classify themselves as a 'big' park even though it is in the middle of nowhere off of the side of I-95. It's actually quite amazing how this park transformed from 1994 until now for better and for worse, and obviously the core of that transformation was roller coasters. The past several seasons have been about catching the rest of the park up to that standard and creating an overall better atmosphere.

Finally, to be honest, the rest of the chain really needs(ed) coasters before Kings Dominion. The park's management is trying to get one, as they really wanted one for 2015's 40th Anniversary, but Cedar Fair chose to spend the capital elsewhere - No need to blame KD.

It's going to be 7 years in 2017. I think it's very reasonable to get a coaster then, and likely.

RE: Project 2016

I wasn't saying anything along the lines of the "Woe is me, KD gets neglected" BS that many on a number of forums continuously spit out.

What I'm saying is that I would just really enjoy a new coaster experience at KD because since my first visit in 2010, nothing new has been added. Obviously my view is skewed a bit because I never went during the aforementioned 10 or 17 year expansion periods. To the average guest, they probably don't know about that either and all they think is "We haven't gotten a new coaster in 6 years".

It isn't that I'm bored or tired of the amazing collection of coasters such as I305, Dominator, Volcano, FOF, Rebel Yell, etc; it's that every time I go, I more or less have, and have had, the same experience (which by the way, is a great time), and I would like to see something fresh and new in the coaster department.

The present day KD is all I've ever known, so you long time visitors will obviously have the bigger picture in mind. I definitlye think 2017 is the year of the KD coaster.... maybe XD

Honestly I think a really good flat ride and another good B&M are all the park is missing. By 2017 IMO they should easily have the third best ride lineup in the Cedar Fair chain, not to mention it's one of their nicer parks.

Canada's Wonderland has announced their new additions.

NEW FOR 2016: FLYING EAGLES & SKYHAWK!

Prepare to Take Flight in 2016

Vaughan, ON (August 20, 2015) – Canada’s Wonderland is taking guests to new heights for 2016 with the addition of two new rides that will capture the imagination of both families, and thrill-seekers, as they take flight in an interactive flying experience.

Skyhawk, the first ride of its kind in North America, will take riders to a new level of adventure when the park opens for its 35th season in 2016. Riders will take control of their own cockpit, showcasing their flying abilities as they maneuver through 360 degree turns, and challenge themselves to engage in multiple inversions at 135 feet (41m) in the air.

Flying Eagles will thrill little pilots and quickly become a family favourite for parents and children alike. These two-person planes will glide 28 feet (8.5m) above the ground and allow each rider to control their flight and ride experience.

We should be finding out KD's by noon!

Also, today marks 6 years since Intimidator 305 was announced on August 20th, 2009.

RE: Project 2016

As a coaster junkie I can't believe I'm going to type the following words: I hope they don't install a new coaster in 2016. From my perspective, I'd rather them continue on their path of renovating the park - and that includes cleaning up what they have and getting rid of what is no longer viable (Anaconda and Hurler spring to mind).

Looks like I'll hold off of getting KD season passes for another year.
How in the actual f*** are you complaining right now. Were getting a 12 million dollar flat ride that's gonna be AWESOME. This is better than almost anything we could've hoped for (minus a coaster, which wasn't really on the table). If you're disappointed because of a lack of a coaster this year, your hopes were totally misplaced, and that's on you, not Kings Dominion.

You rock, KD!

RE: Project 2016

Now when are they going to announce they rest of the improvements that we saw in those blueprints...
Also kings island has this exact same ride and name. Wish they would name this one themed to candy apple grove. But I'm not complaining cuz this ride looks awesome!

I had season passes at KD for the past 5 years minus this year and decided to not renew because the rides had gotten stale for the family.  Know its time to take a break when the kids sigh when you mention you are going to KD for the day.   Yeah soak city got a renovation this year but basically got the same slides as WC.  Yeah Delirium looks cool and I'm sure will be awesome but in my mind not worth it unless you want to fork over the $600 for my passes. BTW - Knew a coaster wasn't in the works for this year.

Y'know, I'm with you on this. That's why I'm fairly park-agnostic. I love BGW but haven't gone in 2 years because when I had a 2013 Season Pass, it just wasn't doing it for me anymore. This year, I've skipped KD when normally at this point in the season I would have 2-3 trips under my belt. There's nothing wrong with sitting out a few seasons to rebuild excitement.

RE: Project 2016

I'm thrilled with this new addition. Honestly, I wouldn't want anything else for Shockwave's site unless it were a larger coaster expanding outside the site's boundaries, but we all knew that wasn't coming. I really enjoy MaXair at CP and Delirium at KI and think this will be a very popular ride at the park. It honestly fills that last void in KD's flat ride collection.

Also, the bright colors will go great in Candy Apple Grove and since we know Bad Apple is getting repainted for 2016, hopefully Drop Tower finally gets some paint too. It should be interesting to see what the new proposed building is, but since it wasn't announced maybe it is something Haunt related?

I might be biased, but I think Kings Dominion is in the lead for best 2016 Cedar Fair announcement so far with Wonderland not too far behind. I'm excited to see what the other parks announce soon!

RE: Project 2016

I for one am pleased I was hoping for a new coaster but this looks fun to.
