Ok, I probably liked Shockwave more than most people did and will miss it more than most people will, BUT those lights might help make up for it. I am a little excited to see the brightness of this ride at night, especially being in CAG. That was one of my favorite things about Shockwave, it was so bright in color and brought more life to CAG. I hope this new ride will deliver.

Kings Dominion recently posted a construction update to their blog with several pictures of Delirium. The ride parts are currently sitting in the parking lot near Dominator.

They also mentioned that the big billboard off I-95 is being redone with "an updated logo, LED lighting and a full color screen."

The ride parts are very, very colorful. I think this ride is the most colorful flat ride in the park (outside of the kiddie rides). I noticed the light fixtures on the seat backs. It certainly is going to brighten that section of CAG at night.

I took a look at Canada's Wonderland's version of the ride and it looks bland in comparison. Plus, in their video of the ride, it does not have the light package that KD's has (no lights on the seat backs). I wonder if the light package was available back then (10 years ago) or if they chose not to purchase a light package for it.

Look what has worked its way into the Oktoberfest logo...

New update the motor is up I wonder if there is any chance it will be open by the start of the season.

After taking a close look at the images in the blog post horsesboy shared, I am beginning to think that maybe the Candy Apple Grove renovations are still on the table. Despite a slow start and zero word from the park, it looks like construction on the "mystery building" is finally underway.

Take a close look at the image below. There are construction markers and stakes lining a rectangle that begins roughly twenty feet away from Delirium's mechanical shed, and continues towards the camera and out of the frame. The markers are definitely in the correct location and shape to be the building proposed by the site plans that KDFans shared oh so long ago.

Similarly, in this image, the ground is noticeably dug up just beyond Delirium's pendulum. Notice how the dirt is freshly dug here, and how it is in the exact location of the proposed building.

On a rather unrelated note, it appears Delirium's queue will be located directly on the former site of Shockwave's helices. This finally explains why there there were no structures proposed for this area on the plans KDFans shared last summer.

Also, note the retaining wall that is being built between Delirium and the woods.

Is anyone else surprised by how large this attraction is? I wasn't quite expecting something of such magnitude. It will certainly pop as the centerpiece of Candy Apple Grove.

Now, let's just cross our fingers that Delirium will be joined by the host of other renovations that were proposed for Candy Apple Grove this season.

Even though the Mondial version of the pendulum ride is the shortest in height, (approx. 75 feet from the ground to the top of the motor housing), it is still a massive ride. In one photo you can see the maintenance ladder inside the pendulum arm. Based on the maximum swing angle, (120 degrees), the highest point of the passenger carriage should reach just shy of 115 feet in the air and almost 40 feet above the top of the motor housing.

As far as the other structure being built, I'm pretty sure it would not be available for use (public/private) until sometime in May.

Sometimes, you can derive/theorize by what you DO NOT SEE in the photos just as what you can see.

Ever notice that the parks photos of Delirium construction just focus on the construction site. Very little is seen outside of it. Even the long distance shot from near the Peanuts Showplace amphitheater does not show anything of the main CAG section. There has not been one photo taken from the CAG midway since the demolition of ShockWave. Something to ponder.

The monster is literally the same thing as Bad Apple though.

Nope. Not even close. Bad Apple is a Huss Troika. KD's Monster was a Eyerly Monster. Totally different movement.
I haven't ridden either monster or spider I was just basing what I thought off how similar it looks like the rides moved.

Bad Apple doesn't have individually-spinning cars or independently-moving arms. The forces on the Monsters and Spiders (especially the Spiders) are much more intense than on Bad Apple.

They're not similar at all.  The Eyerly rides have individual spinning cars, the Troikas don't.  If anything, the movement pattern of the Troika is more similar to BGW's Flying Machine (Tivoli Orbiter) than an Eyerly.

Here are onride POVs for comparison...

Yeah, I just keep hoping that they'll surprise us by bringing the Monster back.  I mean, they do still have the thing.  Boneyard

Wow! I had never thought the park had kept the ride for almost 30 years! It is weird that some rides are trashed and hauled off the property in short order. While other attractions rest in park graveyards. The Monster was removed in the late 1980's, during KECO ownership. I wonder what else is hidden in the dark recesses of the park property.
