I kind of wish they sold pieces of it. That way I could repay all the pain it gave me.
If it weren't driven by a machine the seats wouldn't rotate at all, that's not how centripetal force works. The rotational velocity is indeed constant, but it appears to rotate faster at the peaks because it's moving slower (the pendulum itself, not the rotation). If you compared the rotations per second at the peak, and the rotations per second at the base, they would almost definitely be equal to each other.strycker said:Thomas said:In my experience, the faster spinning ones are less sickening and have better forces.
From the Kings Island Youtube videos of theirs, it seems like it is centripetal force that makes it spin. You can see as the pendulum stops, the spinning slows a little, but will pick back up on the down swing. Not sure if this is actually the case, but it does not seem machine driven at a constant rate except maybe at the end, unless that's just a braking system stopping the revolutions.
I'm always weary of these types of rides. But I'll more than likely 'give it a whirl'.![]()

Demolition on Shockwave has started. They way they're just tearing it down is so beautiful.
